There is no point worrying about how much  in everything all the time,  if could afford and it is time to setup a family, just do it  . There is no need to have a lavish wedding banquet,  even one will to lose money, on banquet, it is not going to be big lose if he plan it carefully. It is up to individual how much he wants to spend.

No right or wrong, as long as both sides feel secured and committed about the relationship.  The longer implications would be when there is kids, that is the time the couple have to make a decision what to do with the properties
