I think ppl never read or they never do marathon in Singapore before.

Whoever the idiot it (yes, it) organised the run on a SATURDAY NIGHT! One week only got one Saturday night when ppl go out to enjoy dinner and a drink or do CHRISTMAS fxxking shopping. Marathons in Singapore are done on a freaking SUNDAY MORNING when normal ppl are still enjoying their sleep.

CCB really kumgong. Bank should stick to doing banking stuff. Jiak bah so eng can organise marathon. So many zho boh and jiak liao bee banking staff that they have got time to organise a run and they did it so badly.

Epic failure. Want to chut pattern also dont use their brains. The low level bank staff LL have to work on a saturday night too. Whoever the Indian chief is a sadist who like to takan ppl and make others' weekend miserable.

It's no wonder they are 4 out 10 on the top 10 worst marathon.

You dont have to do traffic studies in the city when it's a Saturday night.

Well, they get corporate tax breaks by organizing such events. So....

For the start at 5am, there is no light at all till 6:30am.  nothing to be shown on TV till then.  The worse thing is that No Singapore skyline at that hour.

For 5am start, it will be 10pm in Europe.

On the other hand, 6pm start will have natural light till 7:30pm.  From thereon, TV broadcast will use street light.

For 6pm start, it will be 11am in Europe.

who cares? is this a bread and butter issue?

If people like running so much, that's what the park connectors are for.

There is a choice of staying at home that night.

And there's also a choice to not organize some lame events.

😅

huh? VIP didn't turn up and they let the event go on?

Of course need to call la. You didn't even have the courtesy to get your assistant to tell them you can't make it?

Singapore is a small island lah. U can say there's a choice of not driving on the PIE.
But u try closing the PIE and see if half of singapore won't develop traffic jams?

When u bottle neck/stop at least 3 main arterial roads heading (West coast highway/Keppel/Nicoll/Part of ECP and republic boulevard) into the CBD on a weekend night...

If there was a fire/RTA requiring SCDF access in CBD that day?

I get your point.

In order for the event to be included in World Major, it is inevitable that all these road closure will happens.  Unlike it will be moved to some timbaktu location on the island.

If govt cars about how you feel, would it continue with this event?

How you feel doesn't matter to them.

I don't think you get it.

Why does it need to be a world major? Whatever that is, it doesn't affect 99% of us.

That's the issue. Govt forgets that they are the servants and we are the masters.

We need to remind them while we still can.

To govt, it is something important.

Because they want it to be world major.  Whether you like it or not.

I wasn't even in singapore on that date.

But I don't say it isn't an issue just because it didn't affect me. Next time something affects me and no one else speak up how?

Whether it is marathon or f1, they appeal to those who like that particular event. Those who don't like, it is rubbish. To the authority,  they are pushing ahead. So, either you start a HK style 'protest' or you work your way out by mitigating the problems. It is going to happen next year and will be an annual event. Like F1, avoid the affected areas is the best choice.

it's strange, and I don't understand it either. But if you see all major cities in the world, they have to have one major marathon right in the heart of the city, and  named the marathon event after city itself.

Anyway. I doubt any of the people beyond the ones going for the marathon or have family going down knew the SCSM was happening at night.
So not surprising, the outcome is the worst traffic jam in town for years.

I knew the SCSM was at night only cos my colleague signed up for the half marathon but is also a U2 fan and decided not to go for the SCSM. I'm sure that I'm probably the only person in my entire circle of friends and family to even know this.

And even then, i thought it was a sundown thing. 10pm kick off or what...
