UCL 2019/20 n 2020/21

the talks of such super league have always been around... and nobody believed the day that it will arrive. Now the 1st button has been pressed to concretely move things into actions.  Let's see how things evolve from here.

The wide spread criticism is obviously expected. Whether the govt, FA and UEFA's pressures can starve off this formation, I think it remains to be seen. If the 3.5B pie is to be believed, then I think there is sufficient financial resources to pull this through. Sooner or later, the local leagues and govts will have to backtrack and allow these elite clubs back.

The greatest lure is not only the financial gains but the security of it. The issue with the UCL is that while clubs can gain the financial profits from it, the pandemic has weakened alot of these elites clubs esp the likes of Barca and Real.  If they do not qualify for the UCL from season to season, their finances will drive them to the brink eventually as they are so heavily in debt.  they need the certainty of the financial income to be able to spend and revitalise their squads.  If you look at these 2 clubs, they no longer have the resources to buy the top stars as can be seen in the last 2 transfer windows.

Boris Johnson has already condemned the concept  .

i hope all the leader from spain italy follow the same. must kick out these teams from local leag if they go ahead. despite me being a chelsea fan. the local leag cannot be hold ransom by them

its like a few players from a club want 500k/week while the next highest is 200k. nothing good will come out of it

That's why I say the elite clubs have an obligation to football in general esp the community. Whilst of course u can say they don't owe the smaller clubs a living, more than a century worth of history and tradition is at risk here. Of course $ talks n sad to say it's every man for its own.

There is a need to ensure not too big a gap in income disparity even amongst our citizens as the knock on effect will be catastrophic if that happens as riots, crime etc will potentially rise. So the same applies to football. As smaller clubs will go bust, players and employees at these clubs will be out of work. Communities will have no club to rally around n be the common bond. The negatives are too much to list.

That said, I believe common sense will prevail but not before the elites n their owners get their bigger share which is basically what this is all about. By the way, the authorities like UEFA n FIFA are no saints as they too hv lined their pockets for too long a time haiz..........

Firstly Super League will give some of the profits to local leagues.

Secondly Ars, Che, MC, MU, Pool, Spurs all signed up why?

Spurs and Ars built a new stadium and if no fourth place and no CL their financial position will be really bad.

Pool has no loans but added seats to the stadium and MU owe hundreds of millions.

Only 4 clubs can play in CL and England got 6 big clubs which 2 don't mind not playing?

The Champions League will be the Europa League and the Europa League will be the Conference League.

Then every club in Europe can play. Leicester and Everton will be in the Champions League and Leeds, Aston Villa and Wolves will be in the Conference League.

It will add millions to Leeds, Aston Villa and Wolves.

Champions League is kelong.

They have seeding so the biggest clubs always win.

They also have the third place club drop into the Europa League so lose already can still play in Europe.

And the winner of the Europa League will automatically play in the CL. Why?

Chances are its a big club that wins the EL lah.

:D

So kelong or not?

Not sure whats the real truth behind, a lobbying position or determined to push through no matter what

With the strong position UEFA has come out, not easy to do a climb down

Good for them to talk after the heat and emotion settle

As it is the champions league comprises of essentially the same core group of teams every year.

Looks like they have very strong financial backing from sponsors for them to take this bold step

Chelsea shld have won this game easily as Real Madrid were there for the taking. Timo Werner missed from few yards out. Inversely, Karim Benzema...1 chance, 1 kill[thumbsup]

werner is lacking confident in front of goal.

he lost the striker instinct. trying too hard to make sure ball go in and on target.

he miss a sitter against west ham also.

despite all those misses, he contribute to 20 chelsea goals already this season directly. he make up for it with his work rate and determination .

but from tuchel lastest press conference , his patience is running thin..............

Rio Ferdinand posted that Tuchel was unfair on Tammy Abraham as he wasn't given much chance to play whereas so much faith has been given to Werner despite his profligacy in front of goal. Abraham is Chelsea's top scorer this season.

ya i think so, but all that is when lampard is chelsea manager.

after tuchel take over he score like 1 or never score at all, get inj and never manage to get back into team.

the game that abraham start for chelsea , he play badly dun suit chelsea game plan. tuchel dun want play a out and out striker, or a target man, u see giroud dun start any more.

tuchel rather play pulisic or havertz as striker now. he want play like man c, or asn last time, every players can play every position.

chelsea got 10 clean sheet in like 15 game or 16 games, so fans dun complain also .

I think Rio's point is that whilst admittedly Abraham didn't play well, so too Werner but the latter has been given chance after chance whereas the former has been dropped and not even named on the subs bench till the West Ham game.

Chelsea has too many attacking talents but except for Mount and now possibly Pulisic, the rest have had average outings at best. Ziyech, Havertz, Abraham, Werner n Giroud are competing with the earlier mentioned 2 for 3 places only ie 7 players fighting for 3 places.
