Wow!! Instead of sending to Mt E which is just a few steps away, they send these "low-valued" victims to TTSH?!? Reminds me of the same incident some years back at Bugis which is right next to Raffles Medical Hospital, but sent to some far away hospital.

Not really fair to say that la.

Example.

Private hospitals do not have the full established org to deal with all the emergencies that govt backed hospitals have. Simply commercially impossible.

They send to appointed hospitals,  then the small group of specialist are called in to assist if need be.

A good example is NICU units. No private hospital can maintain such set up like SGH or KK.

When discussing which hospital 995 emergency ambulance will send the patient to.

My colleague's 80s mother fell at home last week. 995 was call and the emergency ambulance send her to Raffles Hospital (their house near old airport road).

When he ask the paramedic why not go to a government hospital, they said they will assign by the call center to the nearest appropriate hospital.

Even though Raffles hospital is private, they will also take in patient through 995 ambulances.  For Raffles hospital, they are able to handle this case.

The hospital told my colleague they will still pay the government-subsidized rate. Her mother is currently still hospitalised there and continue paying subsidized rate.

yes. Raffles Hospital can. it was reported in the news.

RIP ladies and condolences to the bereaved families.

Speedy recovery to those injured.

Safe ride. Be alert once behind the wheels. Practise defensive driving.

Singapore very small, plenty of U-turns and exits/entrances. Good to save money and petrol, if these cost more than your life and lives of loved ones onboard. Dun go overboard.

Can be right or dead right or right but dead. Your choice.

Ego v cheap these days, dun cherish it like an idiot. Wave thanks, give thumbs up when others give way.

Most important : share the roads. Be considerate.

New Year is here soon. Then CNY and so forth. Every year the same. Be around to celebrate with loved ones.

Dun drink n drive. Dun drive on medication that cause drowsiness and have sufficient rest.

Dun understand why this particular accident happened. But i will not speculate on the possible causes, just hope investigations will reveal the truth and the families of the victims can have a closure soon.

Haiz

He must be distracted. How else would a driver crash until like that?

I received a video clip. He was stopped at the drop-off point, then made a U-Turn at the Nutmeg x Jln Kayu Manis and accelerated at full speed towards the building.

Edit: @Watwheels we posted same clip 2 minutes apart...

@Philipkee need your comment.. As there are many people comment on Facebook that regarding the accident yesterday at lucky plaza. They are questioning why these people who are injured are not sent to Mount e which is just few hundreds Meters away but got sent to ttsh instead.. I am sure you know the answer why. We would like to know the reasoning..

Protocol is always to send to the nearest govt hospitsl that is appropriate for the care of the patient.  Example, barring emergencies like cardiac arrest, children should be sent to KKH.

I worked in both private and govt and I give my two cents.  My personal opinion.

Private hospitals are not equipped to handle such traumas.  Now, not equipped does not mean they dont have the qualified staff or equipment. It means they dont have equipment and staff on standby for just these emergencies.  For govt hospitals, yes, they have teams on standbys JUST for such emergencies.  So yes, nearest govt hospitals.

A lot has been said about is it because of money?  I would say no.  It IS a consideration.   That's being frank.  But the whole idea is to get the best care for the patient, not just at the point of time but in the follow up (medications, theatre, ICU etc).

https://www.google.com/amp/s/goodyfeed.com/farrer-park-hospital-nurses-doctors-rushed-accident-scene-rescue-stroke-victim/amp/

So it can happen.   But someone must call the hosptial.  Its not like u can call 995 and Mt E gets activated.

But the sending of patient to TTSH is for the best care and follow on care.

It's a very delicate answer.  No good answer.

It's like someone very cold and sweaty and clutching his chest and u have to decide between calling for an ambulance and wait for a few minutes vs jumping into the first cab that comes along.  Both do the same job (transport to hospital) but which of this transport will likely result in better care?  Some will argue send to hospital first is more important.   Some will say if there is traffic jam at least in the ambulance there is more equipment.

Hope this helps.

2. floor mat is ultra thick type that is already resting on accelerator

3. wearing flip flops

Do the stars matter these days?

I haven't got chance to give ZERO yet.  No idea.

I gave Didi driver in Beijing 1 star in the morning.  Customer service called me in the afternoon.  I got refund for the difference in fare.

Confirm press wrong pedal. It happened to me before and i knocked down a carpark gantry machine in my early years after getting a licence.

Mainly cos i never shift my foot properly and also in panic pressed harder instead of lifting off and stepping down again (which would then only contact the brake pedal 1st).

This is some fked up driving. Seemed like the driver didn't realise/care that there were victims under his car and lying on the ground. I saw another video showing he was busy checking his car damages and staring at his phone upon exit from car.

I always have the habit of checking both left and right even when crossing a one way street and ppl think I'm paranoid. Nowadays u never know which way a car will be coming at you. As cars get smarter drivers get dumber.
