Lol. 😁

It's the sheer stupid arbitrary nature of the policy I objected to. My M140i couldn't join. But if I'd bought the 3 door version of the same car, suddenly can join?

Anyway, took a look at their website. They've changed things! Emphasis added in bold.

I went in and saw their organisation chart. Quite MLM-ish with the crossed-arms stance 😆

Elitist also, if you own a performance 4 door, it has to be a continental make. No top tier Japanese mobiles (Evos, WRXs, Euro/Type Rs).

If worry about upkeep cost, buy any brand new NA car at around $70K and mod.

Perodua Bezza is best value at $61K

If we were 0.5 degree more northern in latitude, I'd tell him to buy Perodua and lup an Evo 4G63 insai. 😂

There is no car on the 2nd hand market which do not have their mileage tampered . Lets be realistic.  No dealers can survive selling cars with genuine mileage.

i wont say all second hand market is kelong , rather 90-95% of the small bucket shops

if not there wont be biz for republic auto / ppsl

hearsay RA turn ard is less than 1-2 months, their cars move damn fast .... cos always have demand ...their cars sell at premium, but buyers not scare, cos got AD warranty behind (for Merc)

i dun think these few big boys dealers dare to play with mileage, too much to lose

The prices of used cars from the used car arm of authorised distributors like Performance Motors, C&C, Borneo Motors, Volkswagen carry a very heavy premium, to the extent that you might be better off buying brand new in terms of annual depreciation.

Brand new Passat Comfortline and Highline at $11K and $12.8K annual dep respectively - and these new car prices are still negotiable.

Used Passat Comfortline at $10K annual dep

Used Passat HIghline at $12K annual dep

Savings are not significant. No brainer to buy new.

Wow didn't expect to garner so many helpful replies.
My brother is a working adult, not ASK (Hence, not a troll post during school holidays 😎)

Appreciate all the useful insights from fellow bros and sis. Hope it helps everyone as well.

He was initially interested in the WRX STI due to 3-5k lower depre than a Type R/EVO, however after factoring insurance and higher repair costs, it might as well be the same cost.

Would you rather spend 68k on a 10 year old WRX STI or 68k on a brand new Honda Jazz? (Running cost is definitely different, so is the driving experience) Hmmm...

Good to ask your Brother is whether he can tahan driving a manual gear car.   And I’m assuming he has manual gear licence and drives the car regularly.

10+ yrs ago, I was driving a manual car which was still OK as traffic not so bad.  Nowadays, so much traffic and jams, it will be a PITA to drive manual

I noticed that too, basically, from depreciation POV, almost no difference. This is same for other AD used car divisions also.

Perhaps better to go used car dealer and buy those cars still under warranty & servicing by AD if want to go the used car route.

As long as you have been driving manual, 6 hr jam also ok one, no problem 😁

sorry to say... kekeke you don't like manual enough to drive it. Millions still drive manual in europe and in jams in the cities.

my 1st 3 cars were manuals and next 2 autos. now i'm back to a manual. wife only drives a manual, save for that few times she took my car, when it was an auto.

Different strokes for different folks i suppose...   I drove manual for about 7+ years before changing to an auto car and I don’t miss driving manual.   Yeah, you can say I don’t like manual enough...  LOL
