Is Dragon Dance legally able to block the buslane and perform on busy public road?

Don't know which company hired this Dragon dance troop.

Not sure the dragon dance company is required to apply to LTA or Police to temporarily close the road for 5 minutes of the Dragon dance ritual.

Normally for housing estate non-busy road, maybe most people will close one eye.

But this is the full day Bus Lane, the buses were forced to go into the 1st lane, in the three lanes road. Fortunately it did not lead to any accidents or phantom traffic jams. So all well and ends well. HUAT AH.

Maybe they got apply for permit to lion dance on the road? Or they are lion dance during the off peak hours which might not have great impact on the road? Lol.

By right they are not allowed to and I doubt they apply for any kind of permit. Otherwise there will be safety personnels to help direct the traffic, etc.

But sometimes, ppl are forgot about safety when they are in a festive mood and ppl around them are also more forgiving for the same reason. Actually the pavement look width enough for dragon dance with lesser movement.

The organiser must inform the troupe to do their stunt within the pathway. Roads are off limit. Some times, the troupe tried hard to impress so that they get invited again next year

why not ?

lta enforcer can't book them, when there's no license plate number.

If LTA enforcer cant book them, then i guess TP also cant book them liao. Then should under which authority which can book them? Lol.

This falls under the category of sometimes very elaborate funeral processions temporarily hold up traffic.

Or vehicles parked illegally temporarily outside places of worship.

What to do? Just accept and be more understanding if it's a temporary thing.

If we over-regulate, then life will be harder for all.

All I care about is whether there is road-obstruction to my journey - I don't bother whether it has a permit or not, still blocks my way.

In my daily life I find that most of the road-blocks are due to cable works - and these guys have a permit! Yet cause more inconvenience to me.

only 5 min at non peak hour, how many cars pass by ?

if walk pass market or some corridor when the lion dance is performing and block the way, maybe should call police also.

Every year around this period, there’s incense dragon procession at Sim Drive area. Hundreds if not thousands would go onto the road to make one big round back to the temple which has over 100 yo history.

All traffic would come to a stand still...never once see any TP or mata mata to escort...everybody automatically stop and get on once it’s clear to do so.

No wonder there are so many drivers can anyhow stop along a road even it is a busy road, get off from the car and then go run their own errands cause it is just a temporary thing. [laugh]
