Why they put a desk and computer to block the doors?

They learn from this. No desk to block the doors and people will just break thru.

Actually a lot of the other countries hold elections during Covid. It shows that it is the best time for those already in power.

But for M'sia it may be different.

Umno won't work with Anwar's PKR party in next Malaysian general election: Zahid

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said his party will not work with Malaysia's opposition Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in the next general election and dismissed claims that both parties have discussed such cooperation.

His comments came after PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said last Tuesday (March 16) that he had met several Umno leaders to discuss possible political cooperation although they have yet to come to a decision.

"Yes, Anwar and I have bumped into each other at Parliament (and) at weddings, but no discussions at all, be it formally or informally.

"Not with me, not with Mat Hassan (Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan)," said Zahid in an interview ahead of the Umno general assembly, which will be held from March 27 to 28.

Asked if any Umno leader had met Datuk Seri Anwar on this, he said: "You should ask him who he had discussions with, but Umno has not authorised any representative to hold such talks.

Umno chief calls on PAS to leave Malaysian PM's coalition

He wants ally's 'honesty and sincerity[shocked] in political cooperation ahead of upcoming polls

"I need to stress our stand in facing GE15 (the next general election). We stand by the Umno supreme council's decision - no Bersatu, no Anwar, no DAP," Zahid said.

"We (Umno and PAS) must both be on the same ground to enjoy the gains[smash] The most important thing is the honesty and sincerity of our political partner in MN. It's not too late (for PAS) to return to the right path," said Zahid.

Anwar has learned his lesson. Must get proof of the conversation.  :yuush:

Zahid denies phone call with Anwar after UMNO general assembly, says audio clip is a ‘political ploy’

United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied having any conversation with Parti Keadilan Rakyat chief Anwar Ibrahim after his party's general assembly, after an audio clip purportedly of the two politicians speaking over the phone went viral.

Ahmad Zahid described the audio clip, reportedly of the two politicians discussing the proceedings of UMNO general assembly last month, as an "evil and disgusting political ploy".

“I strongly deny the conversation happened, as such in the audio recording. In fact I would like to emphasise that there was no conversation between me and Datuk Seri Anwar after the recent UMNO general assembly,” said Ahmad Zahid.

"This is an evil and disgusting political ploy that only confirms the continuous efforts to weaken and destroy UMNO. I believe there will be more vile games like this to further belittle and destroy UMNO,” added the Bagan Datuk MP.

No $$ but ECRL project still continues? Btw, don't hold your breath as there's likely further prata flipping.  [laugh]

Commentary: Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Link alignment is anything but settled

Malaysian Transport Minister Dr Wee Ka Siong announced last Monday (Apr 5), the ECRL will revert to a northern alignment. BN is presently the coalition with the largest share of MPs within the PN coalition, and MCA-BN is likely interested in wrestling the seat back from PH in the upcoming general election. It’s no wonder Dr Wee, who is also President of the MCA, supports the move for a northern alignment(i.e. via Bentong).

Gombak station falls within the Gombak constituency helmed by Azmin Ali from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu). Azmin is an important PN leader serving as both senior Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry.

Large-scale infrastructure projects, like the ECRL, will allow BN and Bersatu to score brownie points with the electorate during the next GE.

Selangor state government, in response to the ECRL alignment, has publicly stated it prefers the southern alignment, citing higher economic benefits and fewer socio-environmental costs. The Selangor state government under PH could be spoiler in these plans. Should the Selangor state government choose not to collaborate with the Transport Ministry to acquire land along the northern alignment, the ECRL is likely to face further delays and may miss the 2027 deadline to begin operations.
