was looking at Mazda 3 Astina, and Cn7 elite.

Areas where I felt Mazda 3 was better:

- better speakers
- more premium interior
- nicer design (subjective, not that CN7 is not nice just that I prefer Mazda 3's looks)
- the colour soul red is damn nice
- got spare tyre
- HUD (a bit boliao but makes me feel like living in the  future)
- speed limit indicator on dashboard
- 360 view when parking

Areas where I felt CN7 was better:

- rear seats a hell lot better
- price
- boot space
- passenger electric seat
- wireless android auto
- ventilated seats
- smart cruise control

In the end I decided to get Avante Elite because of the rear legroom (Mazda 3 rear seat can maybe fit 1x poodle), electric seat for passenger, and ventilated seats.

How about which car the door closing sound and feel more sieok? =D

@Mr_LTH @whyhx thanks for all the feedbacks. Yeah I feel in term of practicality and price avante seem to come out better except have to compromise the plastic interior. However my wife prefer the astina better as it look more posh inside. Haha

Another thing is how's the resale value of these two model? Based on their both predecessor models seem to be regularly seem on the road.

Maybe your wife will change her mind if she has to sit behind haha. But YMMV - if no kid, and almost 100% of the time it's just you and one passenger then Mazda 3 is not a bad idea especially if your wife prefers it.

No difference to me to be honest. The door closing sound can be engineered anyway, like how some headphone brands add weight to make their headphones feel more atas.

Astina:

- 7 airbags

- Paddle Shifters

- 18 inch rims

- Adaptive LED Headlights

- HUD

- 360 degree Camera

- Front Cross Traffic Alert with Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking

- Distance & Speed Alert

- Cruising & Traffic Support

- Driver Monitoring

- Bose sound system

- Walk away lock

- Auto tilt mirror while reversing

- Better looking exterior & interior, materials used feel more premium (imo)

Elite:

- Passenger powered seat

- Ventilated & heated seats

- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

- Wireless Apple Carplay & Android Auto ( Mazda 3 needs to use cable)

- Smart Cruise Control with stop & go (Mazda 3 can only activate ACC at 30 km/h and above)

- Smart Trunk

- Bigger rear & boot space

These are some of the differences between them. If you want a good looking sedan with plush interior go for Mazda 3, if you want a spacious and attention grabbing car, go for Hyundai Avante. These two cars have ADAS and are both very good cars in their segment so it all depends on your preference. Go for a test drive to see which one you like more. But if you want Mazda 3, try to go for Elegance variant since it shares most of the Astina features except for the Bose sound system and some other aesthetic and it's cheaper.

Can't help to chime in after seeing this post. I  was having the same dilemma a few months back and ended up getting the mz3 astina hb cause I prefer the hb looks. That said, after seeing more Avante on the road, the looks really grow on me, especially the sexy rear with the red streak hahaha.

My personal cons of the mz3 to give another perspective, some of which have already been shared, for consideration:

- Rear space is really limited and not comfy for long journeys;

- Wired carplay is a bit of a chore to plug and unplug each time, especially when I keep the phone in the central arm console;

- Non touchscreen infotainment is slower to navigate and toggle;

- No electric seat for passenger... I would prefer the driver seat to be manual and the passenger seat to be electric since I don't change my seating position but you could be driving a different passenger (heehee);

- The acceleration felt more sluggish/ with more drag as compared to Avante. Maybe cause mz3 is tad heavier?

Heh have fun in the car choosing process and I will continue to drool at all the sexy perky Avantes on the road ^^

I bought my family and friends when went to check out and test drive cars including the Mazda 3 and Hyundai Avante.

Avante has more rear seat space but the Mazda is definitely adequate and sufficient if both drivers and pax behind the driver are 6ft/182cm or less.

My family prefers the Mazda 3 over Avante because rear seat comfort for 3 adults pax average size feel on par with Avante but the car ride and cornering comfort in Mazda 3 feel better for them as pax. For driver's enjoyment personally i prefer Mazda 3.

In terms of drive, Mazda no doubt is likely to win Hyundai. However, owning a car, also requires you to factor in other misc expenditures like maintenance costs and all.

Mazda cars are generally also most costly when it comes to maintenance (if you go back to agent diligently).

i think it's not unusual for makes with a large enough owner pool to have their own chat group ba. there's really nothing top secret about it lol.

the way i look at it, for people who are first setting out to find out about the car, they would definitely turn to this forum first. but thereafter, once you are an owner or close to being one, having live support and feedback from other owners in the palm of your hands is something that this forum would be hard placed to beat, unfortunately.

i myself wasn't fond of the idea at first, particularly that of having to join a chat group and download a messaging app i had otherwise no use for. but having seen how helpful and responsive the community is on the chat, i can say that i'd have regretted not joining for sure.

Different generation lar bro... we used to discuss on a forum, but the younger drivers prefer phone apps...
