Coolant overflowing from expansion tank

Was almost home after dinner when overheating light kit up. Turned off engine, opened up bonnet and noticed water was flowing out of the plastic expansion tank at its cap. Radiator itself seemed ok. What could be the cause? Bad radiator cap, blown fan fuse (checking tomorrow), stuck thermostat, bad water pump?

If diesel, it could be valve cover gasket uplorry

Once cool down, top up radiator before drive to mechanic

What you said are all possible, check if the radiator fan is blowing when engine gets heat up. It could be a malfunction water pump as well, not completely dead but inefficient.

Yes, please. Prefer AMK or Sin Ming so don't have to drive too far. Thanks.

Aircon was less cold so I think the fan wasn't working. 10-year-old Sylphy BTW.

Someone had the same problem long before you.

Very likely blower connector corroded lor.  Is the fan spinning ?

If connector, go value shop buy a terminal block 80cts.  Scissor cut cut.  OK liao.

Fan fuse ok but is the fan spinning ? The fan motor might be gone. Water pump worth checking too. drive your car  to a mechanic  for a check better.

When everything cooled look at the radiator cap. Thing to look out for is the rubber seals underneath the cap. Should be about 2-3 layers at different levels. See whether it gives a tight feel when turning to lock the cap. If leng leng means it's as good as open. It's good to check it every 2-3 years.

Supersonic

My guess is a simple stuck thermostat.

It didn't open to let the coolant flow into the engine. Engine overheat.

Water pump continues to pump and the coolant back up into the overflow tank.

Workshop diagnosed as blown head gasket. There was some oily deposit in expansion tank. 10 years liao (just renewed COE).
