Singapore cases are still growing. 😞

Korea & China is doing a good job.

that's because china has stopped testing.

this week they reopened cinemas but closed it again just a day later. Looks like a new strategy is needed.

Statens Serum Institut (SSI) løser stort mangelproblem ved test for COVID-19

(Google translated from Danish The State Serum Institute (SSI) solves major deficiency problem in testing for COVID-19)

Quote

SSI has developed a simple and rapid method as an alternative to the chemical kit reagents, many laboratories lack to test for COVID19 virus.

Last edited on March 27, 2020

Everywhere there is a desire to test far more for COVID19 virus than so far. However, several countries find that they lack the chemical reagents needed to test people.

Now, however, there is good news from the State Serum Institute (SSI). SSI has developed and tested a simple and rapid method as an alternative to the chemical reagents on which many laboratories today rely, in order to pre-test and test COVID19.

The method is not as sensitive as the standard method used to pre-process samples. But it is considered that it has only a very small significance in the current situation.

Published the method online

In order to spread the method as quickly as possible, SSI has chosen to publish it online (link will come later) and per. email to the European laboratory colleagues so that other laboratories at home and abroad can freely use it.

At the same time, on March 26, 2020, SSI will hold meetings with the country's clinical microbiology departments on the method.

The hope is that the method will soon increase the test capacity. Not only in Denmark, but also in other countries that are badly affected by COVID-19 and which experience a lack of reagents.

Something darker for our souls

Should scientists infect healthy people with the coronavirus to test vaccines?

Radical proposal to conduct ‘human challenge’ studies could dramatically speed up vaccine research.

Quote

But one of the biggest hurdles will be showing that a vaccine works. Typically, this is done through large phase III studies, in which thousands to tens of thousands of people receive either a vaccine or a placebo, and researchers track who becomes infected in the course of their daily lives.

A quicker option would be to conduct a ‘human challenge’ study, argue scientists in a provocative preprint published this week1 . This would involve exposing perhaps 100 healthy young people to the virus and seeing whether those who get the vaccine escape infection.

What is not mentioned is there would not be any placebo in the "human challenge". 😵🤪😨🙁
