My wife know a Shanghaiese super richie...

Owned and stay at an unit at I think the last floor of ION resident.  Owned 7 to 8 condo at Newton area  and som shop houses at other area and all  rent out. 

Of course they are PR here.

This kind of solution, locking people up, while the virus burns itself out (only takes a week plus minus from ART + to - as we know from experience) - please, any idiot can come up with this.

We all know covid variants comes in waves by now.  It will rises peaked and come down.  It's about managing the hospital capacity and reducing the death while in the middle of the wave. They can pad themselves and think covid zero. policy saved them.

Yes, good thing is numbers are finally coming down but this shows that 2 weeks lockdown is not enough.  A 2 months lockdown may be necessary to bring it to dynamic zero (whatever it means), that is why I wish CHINA luck. This will totally destroy the economy if it is repeated ad-nausem.

Even if China were to tighten border control further, Omicron is likely to return to Shanghai, whether from people, pets, animals or even rodents. 

This might be an interim measure but what is the exit strategy remains unanswered.

That time is not the fast-spteading omicron, so hard lockdown is more effective in bringing situation under control. Plus the fact the virus variant in those days was believed to be deadlier.

Now with omicron, the lockdown strategy is no longer effective . Might as well enjoy while you can, brace for the inevitable surge when it comes again, as the virus is milder and in fact good to maintain a certain level of exposure for general immunity in our population.

Different strategy for different variants.

Lockdown is useless if they think try to bring covid to zero

 

they should impose more safety measures, safe distancing and limit of pax and resume activities. These measures will minimise the outbreak and keep hospital bed remain available
