China people now know the power of protest....... a slippery slope for the party.

as usual one lah. They say they are listening to the people. But if the people dare to ask for too much, off to the labour camps.

Under China constitution, ppl has the right to petition 上訪。

A lot of times, ppl are stopped before leaving their village.

In addition, a lot of A4 paper demonstrators had been invited for chat

There have always been protests in China, but as long as it is localised the instigators can be quickly rounded up and silenced.

The covid protests, however, were huge and widespread, the authorities could not take effective action, for now. It gave a convenient excuse for authorities to relax covid curbs too, I feel. They've probably been thinking of loosening up restriction but no one dared to go against emperor edict. The protests came at a convenient time. Now in the coming weeks if there's a covid wave that kills many elderly, they can also conveniently point finger at these protesters.

Mind you, in sg where we have good rate of vaccination with so-called superior mRNA vaccines and controls and plentiful ART testing, we still averaged almost 3 deaths daily based on recently released stats. Just scale up our population to PRC level and account for the fact that a higher number of their elderly are not properly vaccinated, there's possibility of a disaster......

Yep, but it's mainly free-of-charge, state-subsidised. Like anything else, want better quality have to pay more.

The problem is there is not enough resources to handle the number of patients (pre-COVID).

Sometime I wonder how they do it... doesn't seem from wumao or official broadcaster.

Someone walking around filling this way quite obvious and should invite scrutiny.

Plus filmed already must upload to YouTube.

But the economic situation for the small folks seemed pretty shitty now.
