Users of Huawei's contactless, cashless payment method can enjoy launch benefits from now until 30 September 2020, which includes Huawei Points rewards and shopping cashback by registering and using their ICBC UnionPay credit cards on Huawei Pay. During this launch period, registering ICBC UnionPay cards on Huawei Pay will net a welcome gift of 10 Huawei Points (worth S$10). Users can also earn a cashback of up to S$20 by completing different tiers of transactions with no minimum spend on Huawei Pay during this period. Currently, Huawei Pay in Singapore only works with UnionPay credit cards issued by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Singapore (ICBC Singapore). A Huawei spokesperson added that the company is working on collaborating with more financial institutions to be included on their payment method option. The payment method first appeared in China in 2016. Huawei Pay works on Near Field Communication (NFC) payment terminals in retail stores. To use Huawei Pay, users will need to add their bank cards to the Huawei Wallet app. Currently, Huawei Pay comes pre-installed on the Huawei P40 series smartphones that are launching on 4 April, but the payment method is also compatible with older Huawei and HONOR devices. ↡ Advertisement
