All these wearing of masks, actually robbers and the bad guys would have a field day.

Since everyone is wearing them, they won't look out of place.

Taiwan plans to donate 100,000 hospital masks to US per week

by Joel Gehrke (March 19, 2020 04:49 PM)

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/foreign/taiwan-plans-to-donate-100-000-hospital-masks-to-us-per-week

Quote

“We have enough capacity to cooperate with the U.S.,” an official at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office, Taiwan’s de facto embassy to the U.S., told the Washington Examiner.

The dearth of masks presents a diplomatic opportunity for Taiwan, ...

Timeline:

24 January 2020 - Taiwan ban mask export

12 March 2020 - Taiwan allow export of cloth mask (export ban of other mask still ongoing)

between 12 to 19 March 2020 - Taiwan  to give 100k masks per week to USA only (mask other than cloth mask export ban for the rest of the wolrd still ongoing)

14 April 2020 - Taiwan to give SG 1M mask.

So "gracious" of them. 🖕

Propaganda.

Until now taiwanese themselves still need to queue for masks and have shortage as a person is limited to buy 9 mask every 14 days.

but since they now on bad term with WHO they need more support from other countries and this mask diplomacy is a good start for DPP

they hijacked the mask manufactured by ST group that meant to ship to Singapore in January, now trying to be play nice guy.

Lots of countries have emergency resources requisition act...not surprising. We have that statute too... Chap 273. If you were in their shoes...wouldnt you appreciate a gahmen that thinks to protect its citizens first? And those ST masks were N95 improvised masks by the way which costs $6 per pc, not surgical masks. Right now, as a gesture of goodwill, pple give just accept with a smile lah.

Facebook and google operating in Singapore also abide by the SG pofma act, therefore i dun see why singaporean companies renting factories overseas in other countries cannot yield to that foreign countries's emergency demands.

Errr on point 1

taiwan ban every mask export

and ST production there produce N95s masks, very crucial for Frontline healthcare workers.

taiwan govt make things difficult for sg, Thats why Ho Ching wanted to shift back the production machine to SG and not subject to ever changing taiwan govt law

now suddenly act nice guy donate one million, of course errrrr

Figures are better actually. Less than 30 of the unlinked are non-FW. That's the true figure of how effective our countermeasures are.

Those FW cases, bo pian, have to count them in. But as they are now isolated in their dorms, the numbers have little effect on cases outside.

Imported cases might rise again with the recent returnees from egypt and india. Just have to tough it out and hope for the best. But this group is also monitored and isolated, so still not so bad.

So in summary just have to let the virus run its course through the FWs, then things should be better. Just a matter of how long it will take. However, without solving the problem of cramped living conditions in the dorms, it's not really over. And tied to this are the FDWs, the maids. For how long can the employers hold them in and prevent them from going out on their off-days? These factors remain the weakest links, not really down to whether locals abide with the safe distancing or wear mask regulations.

"In early April, Taiwan's daily surgical mask output reached 13 million, more than four times its production level in early February, according to the government." https://focustaiwan.tw/politics/202004120016

Hope they have enough to support their people first. Needing no outside help in satisfying one's basic needs, this is very important now.
