Since I have good responses here. So I try to tackle another car this time. As I do not own the car. So I will exclude all the fluid change and tyres. I think these are the primary thing that you should do to your car. Mine are secondary. To make a car you like more love. haha.

So this time, I went to sgcarmart and hunt for COE cars! And I have chosen a Mercedes Benz 200E.

https://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=901596&DL=3417

901596_2b.jpg

I think this car is the epitome of what a Merc should be. I prefer the W123, but I think is super duper rare in Singapore. This W124 still can see quite a fair bit on the road.

But there were plenty of advances - the multi-link independent rear suspension, was a significant improvement, while the all-round passive and active safety performance was significantly better than before.

There aren't many weaknesses – the engines go on forever, but rust nibbles away at the edges.

SO, If I were to own this and I were to spend $3K for this car. . .

W124 E Class EIBACH PRO-KIT LOWERING SPRINGS ($650)

Eibach_Pro_-Kit_View_h1oe-xd.png

I won't doubt the comforts of the W124, So If the factory stock have no leaks, I will just upgrade the spring to a stiffer one for better handling and a more "ah-beng" look.

Mercedes Benz Blower Motor Assembly ($300)

s-l500.jpg

I confirm guarantee chop the aircon in W124 will not be cold and usually the owner won't change this until it is spoilt. But aircon to me is very very important. So I will splurge abit just to get the aircon at a breezy cool level.

Mercedes w124 amg spoiler ($300)

I will definitely get an AMG Spoiler for this. hahah.

Mercedes%2520-%2520W124%2520Styling%2520

Mercedes Headlight Wiper Blade ($100)

100919624_Screenshot2020-05-19at11_23_43AM.png.c7df8ae9ee351e57aa3dc0b9cc061e3c.png

The headlight wiper instantly makes the car badass!

1986-1995 Mercedes W124 Armrest with da ge da ($500)

1767750036_Screenshot2020-05-19at11_25_03AM.png.c23ea64c5aa32dccbe9ba000debe7a86.png

Even thou this don't serve any purposes anymore, but it is a cool factor when you are selling this car, you can tell the next owner this car comes with a da ge da!

CHROME SIDE DOOR STREAMER ($200)

1987921160_Screenshot2020-05-19at11_26_50AM.png.c08ea092fe01c3c4e3810571f853b9de.png

I think the chrome stripe completes the car.

A new set of cat mats ($300)

3835_p1_s_3.jpg&f=1&nofb=1

It just needs a new car mat to revitalise the interior!

A new set of the Performance brake disc. ($200)

s-l225.jpg&f=1&nofb=1

This is a must for such a heavy car. Safety first.

Summary

W124 E Class EIBACH PRO-KIT LOWERING SPRINGS ($650)

Mercedes Benz Blower Motor Assembly ($300)

Mercedes Benz Blower Motor Assembly ($300)

Mercedes w124 amg spoiler ($300)

Mercedes Headlight Wiper Blade ($100)

1986-1995 Mercedes W124 Armrest with da ge da ($500)

CHROME SIDE DOOR STREAMER ($200)

A new set of cat mats ($300)

Labour cost ($700)

Total $3,350

yup likewise!

My recent purchased the owner was so nice that she did Full servicing and passed the annual inspection, Pumped Full tank then transfer/pass the car to me.

That's a very nice seller you encounter.

My case is lesser than a quarter of petrol and Fuel light 'on' upon few kilometres drive off.

How the h*ll did your suspension last for 12 years? My previous car 8 years went through 3 sets. My current ride 3 years already got sound for 1 year. Lol.

No idea man, I guess the previous owners did majority of the mileage on highways possibly, but pretty sure its original cos there was a date stamp with the year 2008 on the suspension, saw when I went for inspection and the inspectors at STA brought me under the car to show me the exhaust 🤣

For my previous COE car, all I did was full servicing, solar film and racing seat. Not into modding, just need a reliable car.

Same , my Altis is still everything stock now, including the paint😅

The only thing I replaced on the e200 is the rims to a set of used  staggered 18" for $900, tyres no choice lah, have to buy new set.

Does a mix of parts from oem and factory parts help or factory orignal parts last longer.?

Car makers don't made parts. They assemble.

Parts are supplied oy OEM. So if you wish to pay more with makers badge endorsed, it's your call, your pocket.
