The Nissan Kicks, a compact crossover is designed for city living consumers, is now ready to tackle Singapore's urban streets. Currently undergoing homologation, the car is scheduled to be launched here in Singapore by the middle of 2020.

At the front, the Kicks sports Nissan's signature V-Motion grille, and closer to back a wide C-pillar finished in black blends itself into the tailgate glass, adding to the 'floating roof' effect for a distinctively crossover look and eye-catching appeal. Bold wheel arch fenders and a rising character line on the bodysides that accentuate the car's crossover stance.

Singapore bound models of the Kicks will sport's Nissan's e-POWER drivetrain, which utilises a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine as a generator to power a battery and a 127bhp electric motor the drives the front wheels. Peak torque from the electric motor is 260Nm. Nissan claims the Kicks e-POWER will be able to achieve a fuel economy of 21.7km/L thanks to this unique drivetrain configuration.

Singapore-bound cars will also come with a suite of advanced driver assistance systems that include Intelligent Emergency Braking, Intelligent Driver Alertness, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Trace Control, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Nissan considering 20,000 job cuts, mainly in Europe, developing nations: Kyodo

https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/nissan-considering-20-000-job-063728965.html

TOKYO (Reuters) - Nissan Motor Co <7201.T> is considering cutting 20,000 jobs from its global workforce, focusing on Europe and developing countries, Kyodo news reported on Friday, as the Japanese automaker struggles to recover from plunging car sales.

The possible cuts come as Nissan prepares to announce its updated mid-term strategy next week. Profits at the automaker have been floundering for the past three years, and the coronavirus pandemic has only piled on urgency and pressure to renew efforts to down size and turnaround the company.

Nissan declined to comment on the Kyodo report.

The automaker said in July last year it would cut 12,500 employees, nearly 10% of its of 140,000-strong workforce. If Nissan raises that to the higher figure, it would rival the 20,000 jobs it shed during the global financial crisis in 2009.

Even before the spread of the coronavirus, Nissan's sales and profits had been slumping and it was burning through cash, forcing it to curtail an aggressive expansion plan pursued by ousted leader Carlos Ghosn.

As a result, it will focus on strengthening cooperation with France's Renault SA <RENA.PA> and Mitsubishi Motors Corp <7211.T>, to make better use of the regional and technological strengths of all three car makers, and consolidate production capabilities.

France's finance minister on Friday said Renault's future was at stake if it does not get help very soon, while Mitsubishi earlier this week reported an 89% drop in annual profit in the year ended March 31.

Reuters has reported that Nissan's management has become convinced it needs to be much smaller and will likely cut 1 million cars from its annual sales target, while seeing a bigger role for the United States and China in car sales.

Nissan also plans to scale back its European business and turn its focus to SUVs and commercial vehicles, Reuters has reported.

Even though the same 1.2L engine as Serena, but power seems to be slightly lower with 126bhp/260Nm vs Serena 134bhp/320Nm.

Will it be a Cat A or B car?

Hypersonic

The 1.2l engine does not drive the car.

The 1.2l just charges up the battery

and the battery is used to power the electric motor.

Its the size of the electric motor that equates to how powerful the car is.

The torque of 260Nm is very good.

Bodylines are pretty stylish but Nissan small cars have one problem.  The interior is build to the taste of a 20yr old Japanese Girl.  Too cutey toyish overall.

Other than lexus with the signature spindle grill, can't think of any makes with a distinctive corporate grill.

Even kia has one that is easily recognizable.
