Personally love the EG and FD !

Here's my 2006 one, design still looks fresh 14 years on!

Best looking Civics

FD

followed by

EK

lines are visually pleasing and enduring.

I agree that FD is 1 of the better looking Civic. Gen 9 and 10 not nice leh. Hope the next generation can make it.

the FD Civic was a very complete package, nice on the outside, good handling and plenty of space inside the cabin and in the boot.

i recall TOVA giving the 1.8l engine a good review back then too.

Honda NA engines ...

My favorite Civic design will be as follows:

1) EG series (Early 1990s)

2) EK series (Mid 1990s)

3) FD series (Mid 2000s)

The EG and EK series were the most hardcore civic they ever made, just imagine 170 HP from a N.A 1.6L engine and these were more reliable than the twin charge VW EA111. The EG and EK series were everyone's mass market car dream then.

I stand corrected, but Honda discontinued the B16 engines as they can't meet the stringent EU emissions standards?

It's tough to find a stock used Civic now. Most are heavily modified, with multiply owners in excess of 6, especially for the EG series.

Sadly Honda designers decided to please the US market and went muscular in design. It did pay off I guess the CivicX sold very well there.

I'd go for a 3Dr EG VTI or EK 3 Dr hatch if I can find a stock one at reasonable price, but probably won't ever find one hahahahaha

I personally think EF and EG were better designed. EK headlights are too big. EF SiR hatch for me.

Edited - should be EF and not EK!

Agreed! EK I'd only go for the SiR hatch or the Type R, no sedan for me. For EG sedan or hatch also can. EF I like the hatch!

Rmb sitting in my uncle's EG VTI in the late 90s, really miss the rawness of the VTEC!

My FD the iVTEC aka imaginary VTEC doesn't come close though still a good engine (especially after remap)
