There is 1 case in the community today who is currently unlinked. Case 58425 is a Short-Term Visit Pass holder who was allowed entry into Singapore to visit his family members who are Singaporeans. He is asymptomatic, and was detected when he went for a COVID-19 pre-departure test on 28 November before a scheduled trip to the US.

He was conveyed to the hospital when his test came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 29 November. His serological test result is also positive, which indicates likely past infection.

He had arrived in Singapore from Nepal on 1 November, and was placed on 14-day SHN at a dedicated facility upon arrival in Singapore from 1 November to 15 November. He was tested negative for COVID-19 infection on 11 November while serving SHN. He subsequently stayed at a friend’s flat at Bishan Street 22, and visited his family staying at Yishun Avenue 6.

Epidemiological investigations are in progress. In the meantime, all the identified close contacts of the case have been isolated and placed on quarantine, and will be tested at the start and end of their quarantine period so that we can detect asymptomatic cases. We will also conduct serological tests for the close contacts to determine if the cases could have been infected by them.

Since we've long been targeting primarily dorms & specific sectors, there'll be significant industries and parts of our population who were never tested systematically.

Also several countries has had 100% free public testing access during the entire CV-19 period, for anyone who wants, no referral or reason needed, whereas free public testing has been restricted for us.

I'm not surprised we're finding a few asymptomatic cases here & there. On the whole, though, I still think it's safe to assume the overall prevalance is very low - especially since 8 months of strict social distancing rules etc, have probably caused most cases to fizzle out without spreading very far onwards.

I will not assume it is very low especially a lot of ppl let their guard down NOW

Looks like COVID-19 carriers always out and about while infectious. Anyone still following the guidelines to stay at home as much as possible during this pandemic?

Aiya, half the ppl I see cant even wear the mask properly. Then there's the question of every individual's hand hygiene. How to be 100% vigilant? Cannot expect much. Resurgence happens when ppl dont follow instructions to the details.

One thing is for sure - the government's intention on gradually opening borders more widely and accepting a higher level of community infection (up to 30 cases/day), is most certainly not going to happen.

There's zero popular tolerance for any kind of community infection. Local elimination is the only accepted course of action. Binary strategy.

The last 3 cases are asymptomatic and detected via screening.

How could they follow those guidelines?

For ARI alike cases, it is mandatory 5 days home quarantine

Not really. Says it could likely be a past infection.

But then it's really more bizarre ... he served a 14-day SHN, so why the test that was done at the end of SHN did not detect the past infection? That's scary - means that SHN even 14 days is no guarantee. Could have some people released from SHN after having cleared the test, but still carrying the virus undetected.

Or maybe he just go Little India walk walk lah [laugh] (apparently, a nepalese) and caught it in the air.

To be almost absolutely sure, it requires both swab and blood test.

Blood test is useful if the person has been infected more than 14 days (so call past infection).

This is NOT the only case with this situation.  There was another similar case previously.

Singapore-Hong Kong travel bubble will be delayed to next year

Quote

SINGAPORE - The launch of the much-anticipated travel bubble to facilitate leisure travel between Singapore and Hong Kong has been further delayed amid a rising number of Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 1) that both cities have decided to defer the start of the air travel bubble to beyond this month, given that the number of local unlinked cases in Hong Kong is still high.

The exact start date of the arrangement will be reviewed late this month.
