Ya that time we tried in Thailand, wasn't easy also, barely made it out hahaha

The XV that you drive in Thailand don't have the latest X mode right?

Proper off road tyre is critical on muddy road.

But Subaru latest X mode was quite good base on a lot of youtube I had watch.

I drove pickup truck with HT tyre.  4WD low range was engaged.

Literally has to crawl out of muddy road.

No need to mud terrain.  All terrain tyre is enough in most condition.

I drove pickup with MT tyre in very muddy conditions (think wet muddy construction sites and tracks) also hv problem in 4L. Locking diffs make a world of a difference for manual GB. Sometimes need tracked vehicle (backhoe, digger/excavator etc) to pull out when stuck during monsoon season. If the contractor supplied pickup with AT tyres, we reject it as not as per contract spec of MT tyres. These pickups are never driven on tarmac when on the job, thus not using AT/HT tyres. When the dirt tracks are dry (albeit rutted), MT still ok.

my Thai subie friends go offroad (dirt tracks) often in their XV/Forester. Most still using HT tyres. Also mostly at stock height.

As long as there is locking diff, AT still ok.

Other than driving the non-paved road to the scout camp. Where deeper you can drive to?

I thought other road is all SAF play ground and restricted area.

Will drive there one day soon to check out.

The road to the end of Murai Farmway can turn left inside to explore abit, the restricted roads you'd know cos it's fenced up, theres abit of grass and slopes, and you can also explore bahtera track. There's an ungated construction side thats muddy for abit of mud action also but go in at your own risk hahahaha. For us, we went on a sunday and the foreman on duty let us in for 10-15 mins hahah he said cannot too long

Yeah it's good, on the latest Forester there's 2 mode X Mode with a mode for deep snow/mud that kinda tries to Mimic 4L in off-roaders

Must find some place to try my X mode.

The only chance for me to test is exiting those very steep car park. Leg off the brake and let it auto control.  Often it was too slow and behind car catch up 😂

Then need to faster turn off.
