In Msia, RAV4 is imported from Japan and sold for RM220k.
After removing our COE of $40k, it is still $30k more ex.

Our spec is worst than Malaysia

Can't compare prices with Malaysia by just deducting COE as we have ARF, Customs and GST tax which is 127% ie for a $20k OMV car, it's $25,700. I'm not sure what is Malaysia's tax rates on imported cars but I'm sure it's no where as high as ours.

Malaysia also not too far off

Import Duty 30%

Excise Duty   80%

Sales Tax      10%

The different is SGD 1.7k

Unlike ARF, excise duty is non-refundable

so far, any news of Corolla cross coming to SG? Yaris Cross is coming, how about Corolla cross? PI bring in from Thailand? I assume it is cheaper if it is from Thai, since it is not too far away. Can use long lorry to bring them here.

PI has NEVER brought in any cars from South East Asia countries even though they manufacture cars by the thousands on a daily basis. Thailand and Indonesia are 2 countries which produce right-hand drive vehicles suitable for Singapore. We should have our own "value dollar shop" or "ABC store" for cars.

Potentially a deja vu for BM if they decide not to bring in while PI capitalise on this, just like Wish.

This is MIT

less than 1.6L also won't buy (1.0T etc) because 1.6L old school tech more "reliable" and 50yrs down the road we will still be using the same engine 😅

From what i was told by a BM SE, they will bring in the Yaris Cross (MIJ) but it wont be cheap, likely just above Altis which I assume will be $105-$110k range at today’s COE prices.

Every 3 years change car, who cares about reliability?

Is funny how the trend now is to price a B-segment crossover higher than a C-segment sedan.

What I was told was cos it’s MIJ n also being new model, price will always be at a premium at the beginning. Let’s see if this is really the case. Think it will in early next yr.
