Honestly i am mainly changing for looks, i saw some rims (used probably) on carousel for around 600 to 800, SSW, Rayer etc (not sure which brands are good), so i thought 1.5k would be an acceptable price. Maybe i should just ignore FC and everything else haha

Would check it out, probably op for comfort too, thanks

One question regarding compatibility issues. If my current rims are ET 45, would an aftermarket ET 42 fit? As most rims i see comes at ET 42.

Also for 18 inch rims, do they usually comes in width 8? Was thinking if width 7.5 helps more in FC, as it is the stock spec of the higher end model of my car.

8J rims can, but ET40, officially speaking.

So if new rims of 8J has ET of 40 or less should be ok.

What is current rim width and offset?
What is prospective rim width and offset?
Is current rim flush to body?
If 18” rim + tyre heavier than 16”, FC confirm will be higher.

Current rim is 16, offset +45. But same car higher trims do have 18" wheels. Currently quite flushed. Stock 16 rims is around 8.7kg. Considered quite light? I see quite high-end 18inch rims also is 8+kg haha

Maybe those are forged rims. :)

@RachelKim FOR good FC between Ps4 Primacy 4 go for primacy 4

why do you want to upgrade if you worry about FC ?

I wonder if it is possible to upgrade and upsize and still have better FC??[rolleyes]

Funnily when I book a very popular Korean restaurant I always use the name Rachel Kim to book under.

I reason even if very busy they will more likely let their own people book first and who can say no to a chio bu.

:D

Don't bother about FC and acceleration,  it is not going to make much difference. Unless every traffic light  you must be the first car to move off or you are so concern with the few dollars more of fuel per month. I changed mine from 215 to 235 front and 265 rear because I like the rims being very easy to wash and maintain, I didn't feel any pain in FC and neither did I feel the car being so slow when moving off. 😅😅 but larger tyres can be more expensive, recently because side wall on one of the  rear tyre got scratched, I went to replace the two rear tires,  damage was about $700😪😪

this is relatively depending on what you have and What is next?

example your current wheel is 16" with low quality tire or wrong size tire, and up size to Good quality 17 inch wheel and tire (low rolling resistance tire) you will be surprised to see imporven in FC.

anyway Fuel consumption is depending on many factors

road condition

driving condition (high way or City for example)

driver driving habit

load you carry including Passengers numbers

car maintenance especially the Tire Pressure the first to look it.

wrong tire size and Low quality tires (this also affect the Safety )

just MHO

When you mentioned wrong tyre size, you are to mean that the tyre diameter (and hence rolling circumference) is so different (either too large or small, by say more than 5 percent)) from the default than it affects the transmission gearing and shift holding points and adversely contributed to lower fuel efficiency?

Transmission typically reads the speed from the sensors in the gearbox. Don’t really care what tires or sizes you put on.
ABS wheel sensors just measure the difference between the wheels. Also don’t care if you go bigger as long as all wheels roughly the same size.

if one had already using oversize or undersize tire then recommended one , his fuel will burn more than if he is running on the correct recommended size

tire Quality is not determined by Country of Origin,

example a MIJ Toyo and MIT Bridgestone

and MIT Michelin. and Made in France .

tire are Designed and Compound formulated for the Application market.

for those who understands mandarin

Great entertainment.. thanks.

looking at the tyre thread of Asymmetric the thread direction will be differently on Left and Right respectively. Assume most have installation mark "OUTSIDE".

still wonder whether it will affect the car movement in straightness or will steer to a side? Unless to correct by wheel alignment again.

As will water channel out to LEFT and RIGHT side of vehicles or ON one side only following the thread pattern ?
