Btw how does hsk know Ho Ching does not make 100m a year, aren't salary is secret?? Also if want to issue pofma, aren't it should be Ho Ching to be the one to voice out that she doe not make 100m a year and then government to decide whether or not to pofma? Coz the salary is Ho Ching take leh.. If she never say anything why government need to step in? Termasek is a private entity right? So why need government step in for pofma? Even if the information published is false, a private entity how come can have so much power from government to issue pofma? If government can issue pofma for Ho Ching salary, then if let's say someone published say Siong Siong ceo salary (for example) and then the information is not correct, like that government can issue pofma? Hmm..

The line need to be drawn very clear for pofma.. If not people will not be convinced.

Public interest is concern.. Hmm.. Like that say someone published something this is false on opposition mp. Like that government can issue pofma due to public interest? Coz it is opposition mp and surely also gain a lot of public interest right?

So where do pofma draw a line?

POFMA will never draw the line here in Singapore. It won't ever be used against themselves.

You've asked the right questions, but we won't ever get the right answers as the legislature, judiciary and executive branches of the government are non-independent of each other here. The Head of Government aka the Prime Minister is supposedly to have direct influence within the Executive branch only, but we all knew that that's not the case.

Termasek is a private entity right?

i never understood this... how in the world can it be considered private??? unless its for the intention of preventing any new govt from having control..... then its very ominous

The answer is the gahmen will never draw that line as long as it is in their selfish, narrow interests to keep things vague and thoroughly in their favour. Totally scummy behaviour as far as I'm concerned.

There's a reason why live broadcasting of parliament sittings has been stopped. It's to prevent people from seeing the incumbents fumble and ask nonconstructive questions. And its convenient for the MSM to edit out portions which plays to the advantage of the opposition, before using these "highlights" for mass broadcast later.

According to Grace Fu, live broadcasting online don't add transparency and we risk turning our parliament into a theatre.

LKY was right. Why should the PAP make it a level playing field for the oppositions? If they are that good, they should be finding ways around the roadblocks. That is until they lose a GRC then come out say sorry and shed tears on TV 😂

Actually those politicians with education, training in law and legal profession fare best at "live" performance talking and debating, thinking on their feet. Note that LKY had this background too, thus his ability to connect with the masses and his oratory skills.

Those others, engineers, doctors, accountants, who the heck cares how expert they are and how much they make outside, most are terrible at public speaking and EQ. So, better not have any live broadcast [laugh]

The eg ur draw is flawed btw... the effect of saying random ceo vs Ho Ching is totally different.. of cus the malicious intent if any is different as well. Ho Ching is ceo of gahmen linked company. Gahmen hv every right to pursue it.

pofma gives gahmen a legal way to pursue false statements that destabilize the country. In my opinion.. pofma not abused so far..

Oh really? Before reading this last few posts, i have never even heard of his name.   Some doctor, right?  Working which institution huh?  Seems like he is just talking for the sake of keeping his mouth in motion and letting the air pass go in.

Did he also kena whack by some drunk or drugged guy recently?very interesting character.

Probably one of the weakest links of his party, this doctor

usually when we want to win a tournament in secondary, we train very hard but we also have to sacrifice our weakest link.  Sacrifice the Lame, i mean lamb.

And his famous speech about petrol price:

He added that the market determines retail petrol prices.

The survey also found that, on average, petrol prices take longer to go up when global crude oil prices increase, compared with the decrease when crude oil prices fall.

Doctor in MTI. Hope this is the last time we see him in parliament.
