The America politicians like to destroy the world econony. Anything trump don't like stanchions, use law to charge them.

Look at trump use stanchions on China.. Now use law on Big tech companies. America is basically telling the world and their own countries to shift all their businesses overseas and don't want to do business with the world.

Can anyone imagine one day Facebook or Google said, enough is enough.. We are going to shift HQ to other countries. It will be gg for America.

If you follow carefully.. The law in effect is killing competition not encourage competition, plus it make big tech companies harder to operate in America. The cost of compliance will keep going up and net effect is that cost passed down to users. So is everyone is paying the price, it benefit no one and make things worst.

One thing you need to realised that buy over companies is normal. If this company can do better why not? Cannot be say oh you buy over this company so you are destroing competition. If like that then no companies should be allowed to buy over any companies la.

U need to go back to econs 101. Free markets only create efficient outcomes when they are competitive. Supporting free markets so that monopolies can form is like wishing to be exploited... u sure ur not a trump supporter?

You need to understand free market is not politicians step in the say hey you buy over companies, so you are momopolise the market.

Free market is that even if companies make acquisition of another company. Let it be, coz if this acquisition can led to better economy of scales, or more cost efficient to run or less of duplication or combination of many factors. Why not?

Sometimes acquisition of another company is a good thing. Like look at yahoo.. When Google wanted to buy over yahoo and yahoo reject.. And look where is yahoo now? Plus competition will always be coming.. Like wechat, tick tock and etc social media companies also setting up to compete with the market. So there are still competitions. By using law to say outright hey you aquire this company means you are monopolising, then if let's say okay companies will not be able to buy over business. Then what if that led to less efficient use of resources or duplication or etc and then end up both companies become more resource heavy and die together how?

The worst part is that politicians come out and say these big tech monopolies the market and then later they get fined and then many more regulations step up to up these big tech companies compliance cost how? What if like I said earlier that Google or Facebook said, enough.. We will shift hq to other countries where there is less regulatory requirements and less compliance cost how? Like that how? America will be in worst shape. Also how does incease in compliance cost benefit the people around the world? It only make things and services more expensive to the world.

Plus competition is not only in America, China also can come in and over took them. If let's say China is able to operate more effectively and less compliance cost and then slowly China capture market share. Like that how? Facebook, Google, amazon will be trying hard to gain back market share, so need spend money on improving products, advertising then now plus one one big cost that is compliance cost. How to survive like that?

it was not so long ago that the US govt broke up a monopoly

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakup_of_the_Bell_System

How do we break up Facebook, Google, amazon? What about wallmart? Apple? Microsoft? What about tech companies outside America? Really this time round trump just want to pick on them because of they do something that trump don't like. By using law on them saying they momopolise the market will make things and services more expensive in the future if they would be required to put in even more money for compliance.

In fact these companies already spent a lot of money for compliance for various requirements that is really shake head. Ever heard of this American with disabilities act aka ADA? It is so powerful act that these big tech companies spent a lot of money just to ensure that they are in compliance, even so if they are not careful, they might get sued for very minor details that they get left out of this ada act. If these money could be put to better use, aren't it is a lot better?

What is worst if these tech companies decide enough is enough and then shift hq out of American, then who will have the last laugh? And who will be the one that lose out the most? Of coz these people do not wish to do that, but if it come to a point where it is just too difficult to operate in America without worrying that every little moment scared suddenly politicians come after them, then they might have to make a difficult decision. Some of the incidents that happened quite long time ago and is already well known and published in public and then suddenly bring it out, why not that time being that issue out but wait until now?

It is always these minority that make the biggest noise that cause the big problem. Mark Zuckerberg pointed out..

Majority of the people all over the world benefited from Facebook, it is just the very small minority of these people who make hate speech, spread misinformation, politics and etc that magnified it like as if it forms the majority of Facebook and Facebook benefited from it. Think this applies not only in Facebook, in fact we could see it in Singapore here too.

Lot of SMEs around the world have FB page as their website. With covid, now more than ever.

Of all the companies, i think the only one that needs restrictions is AMZN. Cos they are really hollowing out America.

Or those paying to Facebook for sponsor end up need to pay higher amount how? Or those rely on social media for a living end up get lower pay per view how?

There is nothing much we could do coz it's America side. The only thing we could do is to take it as lesson learn and not to do this stunt in sg side.
