Didu Supercharged May 20, 2021 Share May 20, 2021 Mr Bolsonaro is like saying, "If you don't give me money, I'll cut off my hand and can no longer serve you." Deforestation in Brazil is out of control. Bolsonaro is asking for billions to stop it. A new analysis of satellite imagery shows some 430,000 acres of Brazil’s Amazon rainforest have been wiped out so far in 2021. About 430,000 acres of its lush, species-rich forests have been logged or burned so far in 2021, according to a new analysis of satellite imagery by the Monitoring of the Andean Amazon Project (MAAP). That’s an area roughly 30 times the size of Manhattan. The analysis, published earlier this week, comes as Brazil’s president, Jair Bolsonaro, is negotiating a deal with US officials to funnel what could be billions of dollars into his administration to eliminate illegal deforestation within the decade. https://www.vox.com/22409783/jair-bolsonaro-amazon-brazil-deforestation-trees-climate-change-2021

Crop grow fast and maybe grow multiple seasons. Forest on the other hand has much lower density of leaves than wheat, rice, corn or sugarcane judging from the amount of carbohydrates produced. By far... this quite basic point easy to google. Measure of absorption isnt carbs but biomass. Not to mention crops have downtime during harvest when they absorb zero carbon

Jamesc Hypersonic June 14, 2021 Share June 14, 2021 I have solved global warming. Global warming is caused because of too much carbon dioxide in the air. But what is carbon dioxide? CO2 is one part carbon and 2 parts oxygen. Because of global warming the oceans rise and we have too much water. What is water? H2O is 2 parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. What we need to do is take the CO2 from the air and combine with the Hydrogen from the water. When you combine hydrogen, carbon and oxygen we get petrol. So we no need to dig oil out of the ground we got more than enough CO2 in the air and H2O in the ocean. The more water and CO2 we use the more petrol we can make. Problem solved. This is called the circular economy. Recycle and reuse. Formula for petrol

Didu Supercharged July 4, 2021 Share July 4, 2021 Keppel working on project to explore floating city in Singapore A floating city in Singapore may well become a reality, with Keppel Corp exploring such nearshore urban developments. Keppel chief executive officer and executive director Loh Chin Hua disclosed this at the World Cities Summit on Tuesday (June 22), during a panel discussion on how cities can take the lead in responding to climate, social and technological change. Speaking about how the private sector can work with governments to address issues like climate change, Mr Loh said: "We have the technology and capabilities to build floating cities, which can address both land scarcity as well as the threat of rising sea levels in coastal areas. We are currently exploring how such nearshore developments can be built in Singapore." https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/politics/keppel-working-on-project-to-explore-floating-city-in-singapore

Eugn86 3rd Gear July 6, 2021 Share July 6, 2021 Eating plant-based diet can reduce the environmental impact. The amount of land required for live stock causes deforestation. The rearing of livestock pollutes fresh water and air. The amount of energy required to feed the livestock to produce that little meat is not sustainable.

Didu Supercharged July 6, 2021 Share July 6, 2021 The beef and dairy cattle industry is one of the main contributors to global greenhouse gases. Methane(CH4) makes up about half of the total greenhouse gases this sector emits. Cows generate methane in two main ways: through their digestion and through their waste. Methane is one of the most egregious of greenhouse gases, roughly 25 times more potent at trapping heat than carbon dioxide. https://letstalkscience.ca/educational-resources/stem-in-context/cows-methane-and-climate-change#:~:text=The beef and dairy cattle, group of animals called ruminants. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20190806-how-vaccines-could-fix-our-problem-with-cow-emissions
