I think we should change tactic a bit and take more shots outside since defenders are now crowding inside. This is the time we need Coutinho-type shooters. Seems like we are still not willing to take shots outside.

Anfield 68 games undefeated record ended by Burnley on 21 Jan 2021

Wake up call imo.

Should do some good for the team for remaining season.  lol

Klopp probably thinking along the same line.. that's why we see Shaqiri, Thiago and Ox all appearing in the same match...

Most teams now come and park bus. Nailed us on the right spot.

To be fair, we have been facing this problem for the longest time since Benitez ad Rodgers' time. What's the difference now?

With VVD out and Matip in and out of the first XI, our corner aerial threat has somewhat  diminished. With VVD's direct passes into the depth of opponent also gone.. we need to make an extra pass to Thiago. Can't remember when was the last time we score from direct free kick. We need to re-activate all those different skill sets again.

With our front thresome not making any penetrating passes or runs, all seem too easy for opponent team to keep it tight inside the box.

And TAA? He has forgotten how to cross and most were intercepted by 1st or at most 2nd player in front of him.

Ya maybe the problem is fatugue. Plus the front three do not seemed to be playing for each other anymore...

Now is the time when you need a Gerrard or a Hendo to lead by example in midfield. Not necessary someone very skilful but someone to inspire the team...

Pool lost to Utd despite fielding almost the entire 1st 11.

The difference between the 2 clubs are fine margins. Pool's defence was targeted by Utd's counter attacks and Rhys Williams had a torrid game. it was a classical showcase of the defensive crisis at the club.  It should send shivers down Pool fans that they are relying on a makeshift CB and a teenager of 19 yr old to try to get thru the rest of the season.  Now that we know this is not Klopp's idea, then the issue lies squarely on the owners to make sense of their decision.

The positive from the game is Salah's goals. At least he broke his lean spell to register both goals.

Pool is winless in the last 7 games.

I think we should stick to the principle of not buying for the sake of buying. If I am FSG i also wont allow panic buy. Provided we still have the money. Chelsea is a good example.

No decent CB will come with VVD and Gomez coming back next season.

Hendo is getting injury prone... Gomez experienced almost 1 serious injury requiring surgery every season. Ox, Shaqiri, Keita and Matip are all MC kings. Some say that we should have kept Grujic as he can fill in for midfield and probably defence.

The main culprit is COVID19. Everyone (except China) are very affected but life has to go on.

I do agree with the notion that we should do not a panic buy.  However, the club has had at least 2 months to think through transfer choices given VVD and Gomez are out of the season so earlier on.

however, if the club claims that they have a long term plan at the start of the season to replenish the squad for a CB eventually, that argument is also weak as we entered the season with only 3 full recognisable CB and one, with a poorest fitness record in Matip.  There is little wisdom in that and especially when the other 2 CBs came undone with long term injuries, the above plan with 3 CBs looks really naïve with hindsight.

While it is good to have a long term plan, the risks have to be factored into and I think this is a first serious example how Pool has effectively failed.  And to further not to anything but to stick to the plan now, it could be even more criminal and perhaps arrogance to think that the team can still function as per previous years.  If Pool do not make top 4 (which is no longer a remote possibility) , then the repercussions on the financials and the longevity issues of the star players including the manager will come into play.

The cry towards emergency measures do dip into the market is getting louder as the above plan looks more and more untenable by the day. For the 1st time probably in his career at Anfield, Klopp has mentioned something against the owners that given his choice, he will buy.  He took much pains to cushion this news but the reality is that, he is also of the view that a buy is recommended than not.

Why still play highline defense when Pool without VVD & Gomez? Rhy & Nat are normal/slow.

Fabinho & Henderson are midfielder and naturally will take higher risk tackle when instinct kick in.

Are Klopp one trick pony(no offense)?

the defensive line was not insanely high when VVD was in the squad... but still high. 1st 2 goals conceded by Pool were counter attacks and the question on our high line is once again in the news.

The 3rd goal was due to Fabinho's inexperience in conceding a free kick right at the edge of the box.  There were some commentators suggesting that Cavani conned the free kick out of Fabinho as he can't resist a nimble of a attack and Cavani just rolled over.

Btw, both goals from Salah were quite good. first one he looks as if he never had a dry spell. The 2nd one was a good dummy by Milner and then Salah clinically scored.

If Timo Werner keep missing goals maybe Chelsea will sell him to Pool for 25 million.

:D

he is a shadow of his real quality now.  Instead of being free-flowing and clinical, he seems like hesitant on the ball and his body language seems to suggest "don't give me the ball".

welcome to the EPL.
