We need to win ugly. Need no free flow of goals where inconsistencies is not there.

While it's easy to pin point the lack  seasoned CB, I felt its an excuse to say so.

Made shift CB and even Phillips was doing fine. Its the  lack of penetration in play and goals that led to our short fall as a team.

VVD not only stops goals he actually sets them up.

When teams play 5 at the back and 4 in midfield

VVD will hit a long 60 yard cross field pass and drop it on the toe of Salah on the right wing.

This takes out the 4 man midfield and puts Salah in a position to cut in or cross creating a goal opportunity.

In a tight game VVD will go up for coners and either head in the goal or knock down for someone else to have a chance.

Also with VVD and Gomez means the 2 full backs can go up into the wing areas and not worry about running back the whole of the pitch to cover Hendo and Nat.

This frees them to focus on attacking because they know just 2 at the back is enough.

I think it does affect.

Without VVD /Matip, we lost a weapon during offensive set pieces. Teams can defend deep but worry about conceding from these deadball situation.

Lack of CB cover also plays a part. With Klopp unwilling to put his faith in Williams and Phillips, two of our three first choice midfielders are deployed in defence. Counter attacking teams probably prefer facing a Shaqiri - Gini - Thiago midfield trio over Gini - Fabinho - Hendo. Fabinho and Hendo's long shots now become long passes to the wings. Thiago and Shaqiri can be unpredictable for even their own team mates. Klopp's Liverpool team needs a rock solid midfield.. putting two flair players in the middle of the park might destabilise the team.

Its good to know that we will register a new addition from Southampton next summer: Takumi Minamino

Now that the Saints scouts are not so good.. we scout, buy then send the players to Southampton before registering back into our team... out of the box thinking LOL

So pool bought 2 CBs ... but yet stil continue to put 2 CM in defence. We would hv expected at least 1....likely kabak...to start with fabinho as CB. Really can't understand klopp's selection sometimes

Jones and gini are so negative, they always stop the attack and pass backwards. This has to be Klopp's instruction right? Or else i see no reason why they would keep playing this way and not get grilled by Klopp.
