real experience.

saw katong laksa... bought... tasted veryyy different... only to be told its halal.

bought bak chor mee.... immediately tasted "wrong".... its chicken ... also halal.

just need to learn to read first and not assume next time.😂

Laksa should be fine to be halal.

the taste comes mainly from spices, coconut milk and dried shrimp.

It's kind of stupid to relate language to religion.

Someone speaks only English, do we assume he's a Christian?

Someone speaks Chinese,  we assume he's Buddhist or Taoist?

Someone speaks Tamil or Hindi, we assume he's a Hindu?

Someone only speaks some unknown tribal language, and do we assume he's a cannibal?

Talk about stereotyping, this is the extreme definition of it

Yes.. There is no scold bad words, there is no scold religion, there is no scold person. So what is wrong with that word? Nothing. It is these people that feel its wrong is overly sensitive.

I guess carried to the end... one could say all Muslim stalls must use Arabic.... 🤔

Muslim stalls CANNOT have English menu, too? In case they mislead non muslims into eating halal.

Minefield...

Not forgetting ...... cannot go off work early half day off on christmas eve too [laugh] Continue to stay in office full day.

We in Singapore never have such issue till late 1990 I believe. Why are we turning inward and trying to be somebody else? Imagine everyone wants special treatment and others have to adjust to them, what kind of world is this?

i am not too sure if it is stereotyping... i would think it is a matter of assumption
