When i was a kid, and passing by landed properties, i noticed they were often dimly lit by orange-y coloured lighting from fancy chandeliers and the like. Contrasting with the harsh, bright, white flourescent tubes used in the small flat that my family stayed in. So i asked my father why it was so.... seemed impractical to keep the house so dimly lit, how to see anything, and what's the purpose?
