If you’re not paying or not aware you’re paying, you don’t have it

any fire policy that the bank took out Does Not cover you. If you have a loan on your home, the bank’s insurance is meant to pay them not you. 
Gotta take a policy with sufficient coverage. 
however if you over insure it’s also not useful. Eg if your home is worth say $1000 and you took a $1500 policy, you don’t get the extra over value 

you need a home insurance policy instead

I really don’t know. I do remember it’s a bank’s requirement to have some insurance though

That’s to cover bank against Fire.

You have to buy 1 to cover yourself
