Just now my collegue told me his Mitsubishi Eclipse ebrake assist whatever sometimes object far away already activated, so his car will hard brake and move off again. He has highlighted to the AD. 

I was thinking if this kind of "malfunction" could have caused accidents and near-misses on the roads.

he need to go update the firmware. 

or if persists, then I believe there is faulty in the system = lemon unit
