why do headunit has a gps? when does it uses it?

Easiest is to see the specs or look behind the unit for a connector for a GNSS antenna.

He couldn't come out because gps no signal?

You don't need a gps in a tunnel.

You go in one end you come out the other end.

That's how tunnels work.
