Is this another Prime Location Public Housing (PLH) similar to Rochor? Huat Ah!!!  :a-toast:

Farrer Park site to be redeveloped with 1,600 new HDB flats and integrated sports facilities

A 10ha site in Farrer Park will be redeveloped into a public housing estate with about 1,600 HDB flats, integrated with sports and recreational facilities including a new sports centre at the location of the Farrer Park Swimming Complex. The flats are slated to be launched for sale in the next three years, said the Housing & Development Board (HDB), Sport Singapore (SportSG) and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) in a joint press release on Monday (Apr 25).

Located near Little India and Farrer Park MRT stations, it has been earmarked for residential use since 1998 under URA's Master Plan. "The development of the site is in line with the Government’s commitment to redevelop brownfield sites where possible," said the agencies. "In addition, its proximity to the city centre will provide options for younger families looking for public housing near to their parents for better mutual care and support, with a shorter commute to workplaces in the city."

Hmm... there are actually quite a few choice spots around SG..

I just ate a good wanton noodles over the weekend at this hawker centre beside a bunch of new HDB along Telok Blangah Cresent, they are around 600m from Labrador MRT, great seaview for the flats above 8th floor, and amenities nearby... no PLH restrictions...

Back in 2010 when I was looking in the area the prices were actually reasonable for non-Indian ethnic quota. But didn’t buy because family didn’t agree with its proximity to Little India. But even with the riots that took place I think people are likely to buy buy buy

How come suddenly they want to build so many BTO in prime location? Even farrer park also cannot escape being developed into HDB?

That few existing HDB blocks at Farrer Park View are Gems.  The MRT entrance is just below those blocks and it is underground all the way to City Square Mall.  And Farrer Park MRT is just like 2 stops away from Dhoby Ghaut?

Now with the new BTOs there, the prices in the vicinity will just go up and up!

Empty land next to MRT, hdb, as long as not in main cbd. I think there would still be some in the heart of the cbd, but much less.

next plot I foresee is at the old lakeview estate.
anyway they want to reverse the previous policy of placing middle and lower income citizens away from the city center.
don’t know what made them decide to allow what they consider as the riff raff citizens to be allowed back into the city area.
