Was comparing used and new car. Computed depreciation of used car and sort of have a price point. Walked into AD shop and hope to bargain purchase price using depreciation as proxy. Long bargain until AD can bring the price close to the used car depre. Decided to buy brand new with the ease of mind on warranty.

Couldn’t agree more. Every single fortnight got super promo. The next one going to be Black Friday d.

Wow, you managed to bargain down the price. Did they give you guarantee bid?

My AD want to do refund already after failing the last of the 6 bid NG and it is based on the price they offered.

Can bargain until they sell for free but that doesn't meant in the end will get the ride. Pardon me, what the the lowest amount of coe dealer can bid at?

No magic potion. Just like buying a phone from Sim Lim. You can bargain until the cow comes home. Unless your bargaining chips are supremely unreasonable, the SA should still be treating you with respect, listening to your pointers, and trading comments with you. Hence, the more homework you do, the better you're equipped to negotiate. But watch out for being overly 'smart' because of the knowledge you have 'acquired' over the internet / youtube and negotiate with arrogance. Coming forward as a genuine buyer will earn some plus points compared to holding so many cards to yourself thinking everyone in is here to swindle you.

Society should have thought us that anything / everything is negotiable...

Actually, so far, in my experience, only one AD's price wasn't negotiable - Kah Motors.

In some ways, non-negotiable price is good, that means you don't have to have good negotiation skills to get the best deal, as long as you're happy with the price. However, you will have to assume a slightly lower price for other cars that you have your eyes on, as compared to the listed price to have a better comparison.

Negotiable is never good.

You think you got a good deal

and found out someone else

got a better price you happy or not?

Singapore car buyers all got victim mentality.

If they even suspect someone else got a better deal

they cannot sleep at night and cannot stop thinking

I kenna cheated, I kenna cheated.

True or not?

Last time I like to go high end home hifi show to see speakers and amplifiers.

I always go on the last day to get some bargains.

Then I always see one sign: Last day special $150 cable today only price $120.

Please do not come to my shop waiting for me to open at 9am

and asking for the cable at $120. Today is last day at $120 and tomorrow $150.

Singapore car buyers are all like how they drive Ai Mai, Ai Mai type.

Can buy at $120 today think and think and go home without buying.

Then cannot sleep all night and 8am faster go to the shop before open

and when see the owner come faster shout -

"I want to buy at $120, I want to buy $120."

Yeah it's deceptive.

And it makes it difficult to factor in price when comparing different cars since you don't actually know what is the price that you are expected to pay.

On the road is the same with these Ai Mai, Ai Mai people.

They switch on signal, you slow down to let them in

they see their lane move faster and don't want to change lane anymore.

Then their lane slows down and now die die they want to cut in.

No space also never mind must force their way in as if they will die like that.

You think these people behave differently when buying a car?

You know what I say is true when someone gets so angry with me

and post you car dealers are all cheats, liars and conman.

If not true they won't get so angry and offended lah.`

The fact they even bother to post a reply to me

shows how deep the truth is.

Consider this.  I got the car in my first bid.  Compare to KMC where after two bids I had to top up to get it on the third bid.

Dark clouds looming over the used car market.

In Aug, SGcarmart had 110 pages of used cars for sale. Its 120 pages today - that’s a whopping 1000 additional cars for sale.
