Atrecord Supersonic December 10, 2020 Share December 10, 2020 Maradona first came into the public eyes in 1982 World Cup, when he was still 22 and just starting to show his talents. 1986 WC was the one that belonged to him. At 1982 WC, Maradona was sent packing by eventual champion Italy in the 2nd round. It wasn't knock-out at that time, and 3 teams in the group of death battled it out for one qualification slot into the quarter final. Brazil was the favourite. But Paolo Rossi of Italy, who was banned for bribery, but had his ban cut short so that he can play in the WC, upstaged both Argentina and Brazil, to proceed. WC 1982 belonged to Rossi. A less well-known name, he was top scorer of the tournament, and won Italy the World Cup. Quote Football: Italian star and World Cup winner Paolo Rossi dies aged 64 https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/sport/italian-footballer-and-world-cup-winner-paolo-rossi-dies-aged-64-13740322 He's only 64, and has just passed away, not long after Maradona... RIP.
Spring Moderator December 13, 2020 Share December 13, 2020 All the football legends dying one by one n with their demise, their legacy is sealed if it has not already been. Players of the old days displayed skill, commitment n passion n were not so highly paid like today’s players but of course football today is more organised unlike the past. I doubt if Maradona can waltz past 6-7 players like he did to England in Mexico 86. ↡ Advertisement
