Considering that there is only 1 week+ gap from the previous COE tender and there are 1,400+ bids for 900+ available Cat A COEs, I would consider the demand to be still quite strong for Cat A COEs.

I don't think we will ever see sub-$30k COE prices again in our lifetime...$50k+ should be the norm from 2021.

If dealers are bidding away margin to secure deal, I think only the conti will survive this price war. 

No lah, the system works.  Demand and supply.  Every month there is ~4k of COE, which is very limited and not able to satisfy the demand, see the number of bids every round.

I do think you are right that, during the years when COE is sky-high, the annual best sellers are the big conti brands.  BnB buyers and brands is just simply priced out

COE prices have gone crazy, what happened to the current recession with so many people out of job?

The strong demand for Cat B cars could be due to:

1. < 10 years requirement for cars driven by new PHV drivers and government rental subsidy.

2. Lower Cat B and E COE quota in next quarter.

3. Chinese New Year in Feb 2021. 

4. Higher VES for band C1 and C2 from mid 2021.

5. Saving from fewer overseas trips in 2020 and 2021 diverted to cars.

Congrats to those who were successful in this COE exercise. All the ADs will be rushing to register the cars so that they can make it into their current year sales quota.

The irony i can tell you for aure is that those living paycheck to paycheck are the ones buying the cars becos they have a more YOLO attitude. 
 

those oon oon jiak bee hoon ones not bothered to buy new car.  Just drive on. 

I truly wish The Govt will continue to reduce COE quota.  There are just too many cars in Singapore.

You are right, I went to cnc showroom to check out the mercs, so many people sitting at the tables discussing about payment terms.

Usually is it not better to register in Jan 2021 ?? Sounds like a new car as Dec 2020 will sound like a 1 year old car 🤣🤣
