Clementi forest

Actually, if you start off at the Mobil refinery at Shipyard road, follow the tracks all the way, leading to this forest area and finally coming out at Bukit Timah, the journey along shipyard Road is nice and quiet. I did this many years ago before all this hype by the hipsters about Clementi forest and all. The railway tunnel used to have some homeless guys living there till someone or some rear end idiot went to blow the whistle and they all got chased away, even under the AYE bridge, leading to Corporation road, after the Shell station, there were 2 homeless guys there till again someone went to kpkb and they got chased away. The other place where you don't find all these idiots would be Lim Chu Kang Road, right after Tengah Airbase "Super Gate" those who know the term will know which part this is of Tengah airbase, on the opp side of the road after the bus stop, you can start your hike there into dense vegetation, after 4 clicks, you will see a small but very beautiful pond and miniature waterfall. If you dare to trek further, well...famous red clay area lor.

Watch Youtiube see all these people usng this place to advertise and get more hits. Walking around SG, 115km etc.. please lah, last time army walk even more ulu places and more clicks then them also never post video to howlian, plus carry small backpack inside water and food niah, try 45kg with weapons than come and tell father mother story. :D:D:D

"No further clearing has taken place at the site since then and the contractor has been issued a stern warning, JTC said."

Just a warning? Let's make them grow back the trees.  🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳

Exactly. The least is to get the contractors to put back what they removed.

I believe NParks also have the means to calculate the cost to put back trees.

They shouldn't let this contractor off unless the contractor are acting on instructions which was miscommunicated to them.

Cleared Kranji woodlands a vital connector for animals

Quote

Some endangered and rare species that have been sighted in the area include the crested serpent eagle, Malayan box turtle, and even the pangolin.

The 70ha green lung - about the size of Jurong Lake or almost 100 soccer fields - connects the Mandai Mangrove area to its north and other nature areas such as the Central Catchment area and the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve to the south.

Nature advocates call for mitigation measures after error in clearing parts of Kranji woodland area

The 70ha Kranji woodland area, about the size of Jurong Lake Gardens, is along a green artery known as the Rail Corridor.

"This is a shocking development in an important green area of the Rail Corridor," said Facebook group We Support The Green Corridor in Singapore. The forested area in Kranji is one of the few patches of woodland on the northern stretch of the Rail Corridor, said Mr Leong Kwok Peng, who chairs the Nature Society Singapore’s conservation committee.

“We can’t afford to make this kind of mistake,” said biological scientist N Sivasothi. He added that the slip-up appeared to undermine efforts made by the authorities over the past few years to enhance consultations with nature groups. Mr Sivasothi said once baseline studies are done, plans are usually discussed with nature groups to see how potential impacts can be mitigated or even avoided, which has been a move in the right direction.

Speaking of a detailed process of engagement, he said: “The fact that this all just gets dismissed without proper consideration is quite criminal at this stage.”

Conservation scientist and Nominated Member of Parliament Professor Koh Lian Pin added that baseline environmental studies help to highlight potential ecological impacts if the site is subsequently cleared or disturbed.

“Since this part of Kranji woodland was cleared before the completion of its baseline study, we may never know the full extent of the ecological impacts of this clearance.”

As for environmental remedial action, Mr Sivasothi warned that “once (the greenery) is gone, it’s gone”.
