Cui. Today another community case with the UK B117 strain. He is a Korean working at the airport ~

Case 59028, a 24 year-old male Korean national, is a Work Permit holder who works at Azur at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport (75 Airport Boulevard). His job entails delivering pre-packed meals to air crew and hotel guests. He does not interact with diners at Azur.

He tested positive for a pooled swab during Rostered Routine Testing (RRT) on 2 January, and was tested again on 4 January. On the same day, he started to develop acute respiratory infection (ARI) symptoms. His individual test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 5 January, and he was conveyed in an ambulance to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases. His serological test result has come back negative, indicating that this is likely a current infection. He has also tested preliminarily positive for the B117 strain, and is pending further confirmatory tests.

Why bother to read when government makes it compulsory otherwise cannot enter properties.

We were already half way down a slippery slope.......we're just picking up speed and like nobody gives a sh!t.

The sinister interpretation is actually, that we as individuals are being coerced to electronically monitor everyone around us, including implicating family members, friends etc. And without their consent or knowledge.

Big Brother indeed.

Went to a car workshop. No one seems to be giving a crap about mask wearing or social distancing, whether it be smoking and talking loudly with masks off, with non smokers not masking and within a foot of them facing them, also talking loudly, or talking loudly indoors in air con environment, again without masks. Etc etc.

What a mess SG is heading toward. We have no real business criticising the AMDK.

(I did warn the big boss of the dangers, he seemed apologetic.)

New cluster at Crowne Plaza? Crowne Plaza to close for 2 weeks after a second hotel staff is infected with Covid

Case 59059

Case 59059, a 43 year-old female Malaysian, is a Work Permit holder who works at Azur at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport (75 Airport Boulevard). Her job entails delivering pre-packed meals to air crew and hotel guests. She does not interact with diners at Azur.

She developed symptoms while at work on 3 January, and sought medical treatment at a general practitioner clinic on 5 January where she was tested for COVID-19 under our enhanced community testing to test all individuals aged 13 and above who are diagnosed with acute respiratory infection (ARI) at first presentation to a doctor. Her result came back positive for COVID-19 infection the next day, and she was conveyed in an ambulance to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.

Her serological test result has come back negative, indicating that this is likely a current infection. Preliminary investigations reveal that she is probably not infected with the B117 strain. Her earlier tests from Rostered Routine Testing (RRT) – the last being on 31 December – had been negative for COVID-19 infection.

Case 59069

Case 59069 is a 63 year-old male Singaporean who works as a cargo operator at AirMark Aviation (S) Pte Ltd, and is based at Dnata Cargo Centre (45 Airport Cargo Road). He mainly handles loading and unloading of cargo for My Indo Airlines, and does not interact with flight passengers.

He developed ARI symptoms on 4 January, and sought treatment at Changi General Hospital on 6 January. He was confirmed to be positive for COVID-19 infection on the same day, and was warded. His serological test result is pending. Prior to hospitalisation, he had gone to work after symptoms onset.

Epidemiological investigations are ongoing. In the meantime, all the identified close contacts of the cases, including their family members and co-workers, have been isolated and placed on quarantine, and will be tested at the start and end of their quarantine period so that we can detect asymptomatic cases. We will also conduct serological tests for the close contacts to determine if the case could have been infected by them.

Closure of Crowne Plaza Changi Airport

4.* * *MOH is investigating 2 recent unlinked cases (Cases 590281*and 59059) who work at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. From our preliminary investigations, we cannot exclude that transmissions could have occurred at the hotel. As a precautionary measure, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport will be closed for 14 days from 8 January to 21 January 2021. The hotel will stop accepting new guests, and foreign air crew currently staying at the hotel will be moved to another dedicated facility. The hotel has made arrangements to check out existing guests progressively. Restaurant and event spaces within the hotel will also be closed.*

5.* * *During its closure, deep cleaning and disinfection will be carried out by the hotel, in consultation with MOH and the National Environment Agency. MOH has also commenced a special testing operations to test all staff working at the hotel for COVID-19 infection.
