If its community-to-community transmission, maybe we can expect tightening of measures? If imported-turned-community, govt may just sit back?

Recent community cases are usually from imported.

Doubt it. The community cases nowadays are mainly long-time "sleepers". Typical case - person flies in from high-risk country, tested multiple times from pre-departure all the way to finish SHN here, weeks or months passed, then one day develop flu symptoms, go clinic and check - oops! positive case.

It appears that the virus lurks in the body for a long period until such time our immunity weakens, then symptoms appear, which prompts a check at the clinic which detects the virus.

Best prevention, don't get sick. Rest more, get plenty of exercise, don't stress out. Once fall sick, go clinic and check, high chance might be positive.

However, this looks like it might put a dampener or total stop to plans to further open up. Hmmm... will they now backtrack on those "singing" rules?

4 community cases among 39 new COVID-19 infections in Singapore

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/covid-19-moh-new-cases-apr-17-imported-community-14640004

I see HK immediately banning our SIA and Scoot flights for sending a few missed cases over.

But SG is openly importing truckload of confirmed covid cases especially from a certain high risk country every single day.

Am I missing something?

Nbz 4 community cases. Yesterday 2. The day before 1. Nice doubling.

More importantly, these community cases need to be traceable, to prevent them from spreading further.

New cluster linked to NUS senior research fellow

One of the linked community cases is a 31-year-old female Swiss national who is a work pass holder. She is a senior research fellow at the National University of Singapore and colleague of Case 61993, and had interacted with him on 12 April, the ministry said.

She developed a sore throat on 15 April but did not seek medical treatment. As she had been identified as a close contact of Case 61993, she was contacted by the MOH on 16 April and placed on quarantine. She reported her symptom and was conveyed in an ambulance to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital where she was tested for COVID-19. Her test came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 16 April.

Her serology test result is pending.

The other linked case is a 35-year-old male Indian national who is a work pass holder. He is the brother of Case 61993, and his household contact.

He works at DBS Bank (2 Changi Business Park Crescent) but has largely been working from home. He last went back to his workplace between 6 April and 9 April.

As he had been identified as a close contact of Case 61993, he was placed on home quarantine on 15 April. He developed a fever on 16 April and was conveyed in an ambulance to NCID after he informed MOH of his symptom. He was tested for COVID-19 and his test came back positive on 17 April.

His serology test result is pending.

Case 62032

Case 62032 is a 35 year-old male Singaporean who works as a freelance photographer.

He was detected when he was tested on 15 April for COVID-19 as part of the Singapore Armed Force’s protocol to test national servicemen at the start of their in-camp training. His pooled test on 15 April came back positive for COVID-19, and an individual swab done on 16 April was also positive for COVID-19 infection. He was conveyed in an ambulance to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), and developed a fever on the same day.

Another test conducted by the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) on 16 April was negative for COVID-19 infection but a subsequent test on 17 April by NPHL was again positive for COVID-19. His serological test result has come back positive, which is indicative of a past infection. He could be shedding minute fragments of the virus RNA from a past infection, but given that we are not able to definitively conclude when he had been infected, we will take all the necessary public health actions as a precautionary measure.

Case 62045

Case 62045 is a 41 year-old female Singapore Permanent Resident. She works as an accountant at OM Universal Pte Ltd (11 Kaki Bukit Road 1) but had not gone to work since onset of symptoms.

She developed a cough in the evening of 14 April after work, and sought medical treatment at a General Practitioner clinic the next day, where she was tested for COVID-19. Her test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 16 April and she was conveyed to NCID in an ambulance. Her serology test result is pending.

One of her household contacts is Case 61536, a Work Pass holder who arrived from India on 2 April. He tested positive for COVID-19 infection on 2 April but was subsequently assessed to be a recovered case based on his positive serology result on 4 April.

Case 62057

Case 62057 is a 31 year-old female Swiss national who is a Work Pass holder. She is a senior research fellow at the National University of Singapore and colleague of Case 61993[1], and had interacted with him on 12 April.

She developed a sore throat on 15 April but did not seek medical treatment. As she had been identified as a close contact of Case 61993, she was contacted by MOH on 16 April and placed on quarantine. She reported her symptom and was conveyed in an ambulance to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital where she was tested for COVID-19. Her test came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 16 April. Her serology test result is pending.

Case 62063

Case 62063 is a 35 year-old male Indian national who is a Work Pass holder. He is the brother of Case 619931, and his household contact.

Epidemiological investigations are ongoing. In the meantime, all the identified close contacts of the cases, including their family members and co-workers, have been isolated and placed on quarantine, and will be tested at the start and end of their quarantine period so that we can detect asymptomatic cases. We will also conduct serological tests for the close contacts to determine if the cases could have been infected by them.

Screw MOH for the imports.

Case 61993 is a spreader. No money for guessing where he’s from. Just cancel his goddamn work pass.

Is this not an import case spreading to local community? Go for work 1 day spread to case 62057. KNN...

Case 61993 is a 34 year-old male Indian national who is a Work Pass holder. He is a senior research fellow at the National University of Singapore but had only gone to work for 1 day on 12 April, when he had onset of symptoms in the evening while at work.

He had travelled to India from 28 December 2020 to 21 March 2021, and served SHN at a dedicated facility upon his return to Singapore. His pre-departure test done in India on 19 March was negative for COVID-19, and he again tested negative for his on-arrival swab in Singapore on 21 March. While he was serving SHN, he had been identified as a close contact of Case 61141 during their flight to Singapore, and was placed on quarantine at a dedicated facility from 24 March to 11 April. His tests done during quarantine on 25 March, 3 April and 10 April were all negative for COVID-19 infection.

He developed fatigue on 12 April evening, a sore throat and body aches on 13 April, and a fever on 14 April. He stayed at home from 13 April, and only left his residence to seek medical treatment at a polyclinic on 14 April, where he was tested for COVID-19. His test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection the next day, and he was conveyed to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases in an ambulance. His serology result has come back negative, indicating that this is a current infection.
