Issue with fuel pumping

Bro, you have to replace the plastic sleeve... what's triggering the start stop petrol filling is that the plastic sleeve is too far down the throat of the fuel tank inlet... this causes petrol to accumulate too fast in the inlet leading the sensor at the nozzle to think that your tank is full... that's why filling with a very slow flow rate works as the accumulation is less likely but not completely eliminated... go back to Komoco and ask for a quote lor... or get a workshop to replace it for you lor... something must have broken off... likely at the collar of the sleeve which sits on the rim of the inlet... that's why it slides into the inlet...

I think you didn't quite get the issue here. Even with an empty tank, the issue starts the moment you enter the nozzle. Press the lever - pumping stops in 2 seconds or sometimes petrol throws out.

IMHO.
Actually I went too far ahead.  I forgot to mention not to lock at full press but lock at partial press instead.
The preset is not to overfill.

Actually what's so difficult in spending 15 mins holding and pumping petrol ? My old car Geely CK also have to manually hold and pump, can't use auto stop from day 1 cos the angle of the fuel entrance is super weird. I took about 15 mins to pump also, and I realize I can pump more when I do it slowly.

Anyway 15 mins is the norm when I see SG cars pump at jaybee. Some even take 20 mins, using the water to wash their car

15 min includes cleaning your car, paying the chap at the pumps, and maybe a quick toilet... the actual time for sticking the nozzle into your car and waiting for it to fill up can't be more than 5 min... my tank is 70L, I usually fill about 56 L (when the trip computer prompts me to fill up) and that takes all of 3-4 min at most... 15 min just for filling up is definitely an anomaly lar...

I think the issue is that even when not fully depressed, at the lowest possible lock position for the trigger, the nozzle will auto stop... I think that's what he is saying... and that's why it's pretty distressing to him to have to stand there and feather the petrol pump just to fill up... I mean filling petrol shouldn't be a stressful event right?

TS could half press and fill up thus likely if would be possible also at the lowest lock for auto stop.  The TS need to clarify this.
The issue it seems is the entire "metal" nozzle holder / adaptor is missing.
To me, that is very dangerous as the petrol tank is not sealed and there could be petrol vapour.

There doesn't seem to be a work around solution unless you are content with spending 15 mins at the pump each time. Why not just replace the plastic sleeve and solve all your problems?

Don't necessary have to go back to Komoco where they'll charge an arm and a leg. There are a few WS specialising in Korean vehicles.

Well he came in here to see if anyone had the same problem and a ready fix... saves him time to go around and inquire since he's a PHV driver and time is money especially during this COVID period when their incomes are quite depressed... now if only someone is able to provide a good workshop to help him...

My Avante 1.6 (2008 model) has been great and no major issues so far. However, it gives me headache when each time I go to petrol station. As shown in the pic, the white color plastic sleeve inside the fuel pump is sunken (moved inside) over the years. Therefore, need to pump petrol manually. Meaning we cannot lock the nozzle and let the tank fill automatically. Instead have to manually half-press the fuel nozzle handle and hold it to slowly fill the tank. It takes almost 12-15min to fill the tank fully. This is very troublesome. The technician in the workshop pulled the plastic sleeve up a bit, but next day it went back again. Anyone has seen similar issue before and managed to fix?

I dun think that is a fuel pump.

You can go to a workshop and ask them dismantle and see why it got sunken in.

If not the cheapest alternative is instead of pumping once a week, "when it is going to empty"

You can pump twice a week.

So it can save your 7-8 min of your time.

Don't think the petrol gun can hang on to the funnel thou.

He still gonna stand there for 15 mins. 🤣

Can probably mod the funnel with a strap or something. Go down at 2am when no one except hantu around and even attendant too sleepy to kachor and measure measure. 😁

You're expecting him to carry the funnel in the car all the time? The petrol fumes from the leftover petrol will smell very strong in the car... it's very bad for health... it's a non-solution...

Bro, you are spot on regarding the issue. There is a flap at the end of the plastic sleeve (I guess to prevent evaporation). Since the flap is far below now, it dos not open up adequately during refueling causing petrol to accumulate too quick in the neck area leading the sensor of the nozzle to think tank is full.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.

UPDATE: As I did not see any other recommended workshops in this thread, I decided to visit Komoco. They replaced the plastic sleeve (Fuel Neck and hose Assembly).
See the "before and after" pictures attached.
Part cost $208.65 (after 20% discount); Labor cost $120. Total damage $351.65 (including GST). Now the refueling only takes 3-4min (vs, 15min before)😃
