haha. I usually do every 15K. +/- 3K. The 20+k was a one-off due to time constraint then. Have been driving almost 30 years now and never had issues with the 15-20K servicing. But I always used premium Mobil 1 Synthetic or tri-synthetic. Only after buying the Attrage then change to Shell as it is their default. 🙂

How you know bo tai chi ah?

You got open up the engine to see if there is sludge build up? Got see if camshaft lobes still smooth? Got check cylinder walls, valve stems and seats for microscopic scores? Got see if conrods and crankshaft bearings are all super duper condition? And if all the oil channels are free-flowing?

How you know no issues? Engine seize then considered issue?

Hello people! Can I just check what's the range of your driving distance with a full tank? Mine hardly reaches 500km these days, the last before I pumped was only around 430km. It’s a new attrage that I bought in April 2020. I’m not a heavy footer as well. Any idea why the range is quite Low? Is it cause new car? Or cause I pump SPC 92? Thanks!

Attrage min should be 95, check your manual and the indicator at your fuel tank cover. anyway 95 = $1 to $2 more for a full tank only.

Try 95 for a few tanks. Like mentioned, the difference per tank is really not a lot.

Your fuel tank cover don’t have the sticker that said 95+?

When I first got mine, I was getting around 400+km (13-14km/l) but an owner told me after a few months to a year, it will get better once it is seasoned and he was right. During CBP when there was no car on the road, I could reach 18-19km/l but nowadays, traffic is back but not as jammed so averaging about 16km/l now. Remember also that the tank is only 42l vs the typical 45-55l of regular cars, so best to measure by km/l rather than range of full tank. I have heard someone here driving up NS highway getting close to 20km/l with passengers.

BTW, strangely for Singapore and 1 other country in the world, we are rated to use 95. All other countries seem to be at 92 and I think in the US (known as Mirage G4) is even lower. So keep to 95. It is written in the fuel cap door.

Hello! I guess if your trips involve short distances more than half the time then the range will be low. I do get like 24km/L on a single long-distance trip (28km) basis to town area. 2.5 year old Attrage. Light footer. On SPC 95. I dont really take note of the range and fc nowadays. Just enjoy the drive 😃

Just a curious question:

Seems like the CVT has a gear 1 followed by the CVT itself?

Meaning it will move off in a traditional fixed gear ratio then will switch to full CVT?

I can hear and feel it switching. It's like a traditional auto transmission gear changing during the 'switch to CVT'.

I doubt it has. Only Toyota/Lexus is using that fixed "real gear" system. Probably it's the programming of the CVT to make it feel that way. Fixed ratio up to a certain speed, then variable ratio CVT thereafter.

A CVT in theory has infinite gears as it moves from high to low gear progressively.

However, practically, to optimise the engine and make the system simpler, the Attrage has 4 "gears". That is, it has 4 gear positions pre-selected but changing from 1 to the next is simply sliding rather than unclutch and change gear like the regular gearbox. You can search CVT Gearbox on Youtube and they have animation on how it works.

Hi Guys,

My Attrage is 2+ yrs old and my servicing package with C&C is coming to an end. Do you guys recommend signing up a new servicing package with C&C or go to a private workshop?
I still have about $475 credit with C&C and I intend to finish it up by changing the tyres (same brand), battery and other faults they may find.

Thanks

C&C chop carrot head for their servicing. Since attrage is a very simple car, go for outside workshop and save the money.

I understand there is a so called 10 yr engine warranty but the cost you pay for servicing with C&C over a decade is more then enough to repair any problems with the engine

It's your choice. Agent servicing definitely cost more than your ABC mechanics. Some want peace of mind and continuity and don't mind paying the premium. Others just want to cheaper servicing available. C&C may have specialised computerized diagnostics that your mechanic will not want to invest in. Maybe the optimal balance is to go for your mechanic servicing but every major or 2 year servicing, go back to agent. In anycase, C&C over maintains the car during their free package. Synthetic oil typically last 20K km but we are required to drag the car for servicing every 6 months and about 10K km, basically throwing away good oil. And diff people have different opinions on such issues. In anycase, it's your choice.  🙂

Hi, how diligent are you'll in waiting for the engine cold light to go off before moving off? In the morning, I realise that it takes about 5 minutes for the light to go off. What's your take. Is it a must really wait for the light to go off? At what temperature does the light goes off?

Not necessarywait for the cold light to go off before moving.. just avoid high revs till the engine is warmed up.  Typically I'll on engine, take next 10s or so to put on seat belts, check around, engage gear, release handbrakes then move off.  Drive gently till out of carpark..
