The new restrictions before Chinese New Year will include a cap of eight distinct visitors per household per day.

This is different from the current restriction of eight visitors at one time.

But enforcing the rule might be a tad difficult, considering these are houses and not public places.

Multi-Ministry Task Force (MTF) co-chair Lawrence Wong acknowledged that enforcement for this new rule is "not going to be so easy".

He listed a few possible ways that the enforcement might occur if the rules are not adhered to.

Enforcement Officers will do random spot checks, and neighbours might also tell on rule-breakers.

In response to a media question, Wong said that random spot checks had been done before, and it wasn't new.

However he reiterated that it would not be easy, and called on everyone to cooperate and do their part.

Wong also strongly advised those going out to visit to keep it to no more than two other households per day, particularly during the Chinese New Year period.

Looking at  the  covid situation globally, most of the countries are in a state of worse than before , the spreading is far from being under controll. We are fortunate that most of the cases here are imported, not local community  spreading. The good outcome of our covid control have to attribute to the effort of both the government and sgprean, we did not achieve this by chance, we need to continue to corporate   with the government to fight this pandemic together for our own benefit. We will screw ourselves up if we take the current good results for granted.

This is NOT well thought out at all. I think you should have people pre-declare the places they're going to visit (there should also be a cap on how many distinct places a single person can visit). Registration can be done with an add-on app to TT so all details are captured. The add-on app can allow hosts and guests to check in and out of a declared residential location (defined by unique postal code) - a QR code can be generated for every registered host address for guests to scan in (they can do it from their host's smartphone screen directly). TT via app becomes mandatory for hosts and guests and any positive cases and their contacts will have their data read for transgressions with punitive action later to prevent people being so cavalier.

Of course, spot checking during the days can also happen, but I bet you they (EOs) will be understaffed because of the nature of the public holiday. But any enforcement during the actual days should look at both having an active TT app and being in the right vicinity for a pre-declared visit.

TT tokens will not permit this level of control or scrutiny so an app is definitely preferred. Basic budget smartphones are dirt cheap nowadays, practically everyone can get one, if only for this purpose. No compulsion to get one (even using TT in any form is still optional), but if you don't have one, don't visit. It should be treated as a privilege not a right.

Reunion dinner as well?

One family with 2 kids plus elders alresdy 6!

By the way 8 visitors per day includes children?  2359 to 2359?

How are they going to spot check where some in the toilet, some at balcony? Headcount roll call?🤔

Might as well make us declare our temperature taking in the app too?

It's just to catch very large and loud group gatherings, that's all. Which are very obvious, no need EO to come in (which by the way they have no legal rights to) and ask for headcount.

If you have one or two over the limit, it makes no difference; whether max 5 or max 8, if something happens it's still going to be a cluster.

As some memes pointed out every day take public transport already exceed the gathering limit many times over.

Similar to the UK lockdown argument on football fans allowed in to the stadium.

2000 fan in a 60 k capacity relative to 2k in a 10k capacity (lower tier division)

8 in a land opposed to 8 in a hdb one room unit!

Make no sense!

Await for the flip of indian pancake again!

Self-reported parameters are frankly, useless. And panadol is over the counter and cheap.

And many infectious cases have no fever. I think temperature monitoring is another useless measure.
