Does anyone own and drive an EV here regularly?

Just wondering how much does it cost to fully charge it?

Based on Nissan Leaf 40kwh, it is about $18.7 for SP Power DC50.

For Shell, it is about $22.

Far sighted?

We are already years behind taiwan/Hong Kong bringing in tesla.

Go China and see how many Tesla and their own EV on the road. How many charging station can be easily seen on Shanghai street.

I don't drive an EV either, but I drive a plug in hybrid and am happy to share some calculations below. My car can travel about 30km on a full charge. I charge at my office, where the power cost is about $0.13 per KWh

Based on my calculations,

- A full charge is about 6KWh = $0.78, which is good for 30km

- If I were to drive 30km on petrol at about 17km/l, that will be 1.765l of petrol. Assuming petrol is $1.70 after discount, that will be $3

Thus from the above, petrol cost is almost 4x of electric cost for the same distance traveled

However if you charge at Shell which costs $0.55 per KWh, the cost will be $3.30, which in that case you are better off just pumping petrol

Made in China you all still want to buy ah?? Now where are all those who bash made in Thailand, made in Indonesia, made in Korea, made in China members?  Lip lai!

MIC and MIA - I don't think there will be much difference in quality. American cars are not known for their quality to start with!  Esp Tesla.

MIA Tesla is probably worst in-term of built quality. Panels gaps, roof leaking, paintwork issues, interiors with different colours, you name it, they got it.

"from $145,000 and $215,000", if it is true, it would be affordable!

From Telsa web page, it is $112,845 for the basic model without COE.

I think those numbers are a tad optimistic though

If they are going to have a showroom, those numbers are not going to work.

20 Tesla's were registered here in the whole of last year. While such pricing is going to attract more people, the lack of widespread charging infrastructure now is still going to put off a lot of people.

If they can sell 10 units a month it's already going to be considered a success.
