StreetFight3r 6th Gear February 25, 2021 Share February 25, 2021 Service on the East-West MRT Line was disrupted on Thursday evening (Feb 25) after a person who entered a tunnel near Lavender station was killed. SMRT tweeted that the service disruption was due to a "train incident", but would not say more. SMRT's Twitter alert went out at 9.48pm. The Straits Times understands a person had intruded into the eastbound tunnel from a portal area at Lavender. Freelance worker Bessie Tan, 59, said she was on a train from town at around 9.30pm when passengers were told to disembark at Bugis. "Then the train left empty," she said. "We boarded the next train which carried passengers but it didn't leave Bugis and we were all told to leave train again." She added that at first the announcement at the station "mumbled something like an incident at Lavender". RIP Train services between Bugis and Aljunied stations on the East-West Line have been halted after a person was found dead at Kallang MRT. In a statement, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call for assistance at 5 Sims Avenue on Thursday at 9.35pm. A person was pronounced dead on scene by a paramedic, said the SCDF, without specifying the gender or age of the person. SMRT announced about the "incident" via its official Twitter account in a series of tweets starting from 10pm about the service disruption.
