When COE is at $100K and you see a new car on the road, you know that owner is tok kong and steady.

If I remembered correctly, it was the time when there is no loan quantum restriction on car loan, so can loan almost 100%. Hence people just use installment as gauge of affordability and you have 100k coe. Just down-payment 10k can drive 200k car. Suit yolo people. Current system is like TDSR with cap on loan %. So result will be different.

I remembered there was a time when coe was 90k.. the 10 year cycle is up soon.

The situation was very different then. Taxis were also bidding from the same pool. Also can do 100% x 10yrs loan. Now is no longer like that and also public transport has improved much. And u have semi-private transport alternatives to taxi, i.e. PHV and hitch.

Its not how much the COE is, it is how much spending power you got at that time.

So those who bought at high/very high COE quite likely made quite a bit more than the delta of a mere $60k.

Business owners, investors, property agents, that kind lah. And table wipers. All not simple one.

sound logical... the reality is some people out there has got very high ego....they need to be seen in certain badge, e.g. B something. Face value and status symbols is everything to them. Nvm, got no money to pay HDB parking...just tailgate others.

Yes but that won't push the COE to 90k or more. We already witnessed a recent psychological barrier of around 50k (for Cat B & E).

If COE hits $100K, it will be painful for everyone.

Except KBW, cos he said he worry about the misery of used car dealers if coe were to crash. He will surely be very happy if coe reaches 100k

Everything also blame us poor used car dealers.

Quite frankly I do a lot more business when COE was low.

I do less business when COE is high.

:D

Only the tax man is happy with high COE. Not us car dealers and not my customers.

Agreed.

It's ok not understanding something complicated as it's nice to have those kind of nice complicated problems...especially with too much money 😁
