HSK is a highly competent technocrat.

But he was never a leader.

And you simply need at least some charisma in the top job.

The technocrats will deal with the actual work.

SG Pools open bet yet?

Who will be Singapore's next PM?

With Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat announcing on Thursday (April 😎 that he will step aside from the helm of the People's Action Party's (PAP) fourth-generation leadership, four men have emerged as likely candidates to fill his shoes.

They are Mr Chan Chun Sing, Mr Ong Ye Kung, Mr Lawrence Wong and Mr Desmond Lee - with one of them possibly succeeding Mr Lee Hsien Loong as Singapore's prime minister.

All four are full ministers in PM Lee's Cabinet, and were present at Thursday's press conference on DPM Heng's decision. They are also key members of the PAP's 4G core and its central executive committee.

It has to be Lawrence Wong,

At least he speaks fairly well, compared to HSK and CCS.

OYK commands certain presence, but his arguments were always weak and one sided, and a junior by 1 GE.

Desmond Lee has not been groomed, and there is very little political coverage about him

Such is the circumstance. It was never about the best man who wins, but the circumstance that allowed him to.

Hopefully LW can take the stress of PM ship without a long term partner to share the burden.
