Base on the way the front of heavy vehicle body constructed.

Tonner only have the driver & front seat passenger in a casement and so have seat belts whereas a bus is more of open concept.

Should actually have a seat belt for the bus driver. Private hire buses have seat belts for drivers.

Maybe because of public transport where the drivers expect to leave the seat to help the handicaps on PMD and the number pof bus stops alomg the way. Stopping every now & then. Private hire buses are from point 'A' to point 'B' with no stops in between.

same reasoning LTA gives for allowing taxi not to have child seats. anyway maybe except for europe, never seen taxi with child seats worldwide.  same with public buses. i would think only very few countries mandate belts for drivers.

Leave the seat then no safety belt? Doesn’t make sense leh. Open and close seat belt take how long only? Safety should be the most important. LTA thinks bus drivers are cheap lives is it?

Man fined for lying to police that he was the driver in an accident as he wanted to be a 'gentleman'

SINGAPORE: A man who lied to the police that he was behind the wheel in a car accident had wanted to "be a gentleman" and decided to take the rap when he saw that the driver was crying.

Ong Chen Yang, 38, was fined S$5,000 on Monday (Jun 7) for one count of giving false information to a police officer, with a second charge of obstructing justice taken into consideration.

The court heard that Ong was friends with the driver, 30-year-old co-accused Yu Jia, a Chinese national and Singapore permanent resident.

She sovereign?

She not that bad la.

Firstly she saw she missed her throw and thus pick it up and put it in the drain so that the paper don't become an obstacle and trip people who doesn't see it.

Secondly she makes sure all the litter in the drain gather in one place for easy cleaning for non-sovereign and for people with no badge and not sure representing who.

I bet the bus driver that flew off his seat wish he was belted up.

Wait till a driver fly thru the window then they will make it mandatory.

It's a "bu"

Maybe she was drink driving, so this "gentleman" took the rap for 5k while she left the scene and could not be tested for alcohol consumption which would send her to jail and revoke her PR.

Very smart move.

That inconvenience has repercussion.

also if there is a sear belt and the driver choose not to use it, an accident claim can be classified as collision.. due to the lack of seat belt.. sometimes we have to be careful what we wish for
