Objectively there's nothing wrong with a franchise style league where they don't get relegated.

However that's in America where draft picks, salary caps, general rules of the league are  applied to each team whether u are founding member or not. The weakest teams get draft picks. It doesn't create interest like relegation, but at least it changes the dynamic every few years for the lesser teams.

Over here, the ESL wannabes want to bake their own cake and eat it, and want others to pay them for doing so?

At least the American systems are born out of a hodge podge of lesser systems. Now there's an established system run by the respective national associations and European association.

Anyway I don't want to see Real Madrid play Barcelona every week. I like 新鲜 more than 好吃, and such games are seldom nice to watch (usually low scoring draws with very defensive set up).

I also prefer super league to be on merit (like the Champions League) instead of whatever given rights they have to stay in there forever. If West Ham or Leicester is good enough to qualify, they deserve to play there. Don't like 太子 syndrome.

Man City n Chelsea hv officially announced that they are taking steps to withdraw. Well done this 2 teams, at least they hv the courage to pull out of this ESL. Waiting for other teams to follow suit n this ESL to crumble.

Kudos to Bayern Munich for not taking part in the ESL from the start, particularly since they are the true giants of the modern game.

This shows team's ownership by fans (German clubs are owned 51% by fans) work in this day. This is still sports at the end of the day, and the fans should have the biggest say in my view. Bayern is successful by any measure - another further proof fans' ownership model work.

All this has only disenchanted in the fans and in particular the players. U can see that many of the top players were patently unhappy.
If it wasn't considered speaking against the employer, i think many swear and 4 letter words will have been used.

Cos all of them signed up to win the CL. not this mockery of an ESL.

Well u blame player power, now the players are going to be more and more selfish. I don't see how it's a good thing for football in general.

All 6 withdrawn.

Quote..."Uefa...a new 36-team Champions League, which was agreed on Monday......"

See where the  revenue coming...more teams. More games. So uefa won this time round.

🤔

The English clubs backed out because they realised it's easier to win the Champions' League without the big European clubs in it 🤭

it was rumored that the UEFA tangled some further cash to match the ESL's funds...  so at the end of the day, it is not exactly fans that won... it was the financial gains (or potential) that prevailed.  Once these owners realised that their financial interests were not worse off, they can then issue these statements of withdrawals...

The eerie silence of the all the respective owners were deafening... not 1 came out to address the plan or explain.

when there's widespread anger, that's what your CEO/COO or PR head is for. Owner/board of directors just diam diam.

Only a stupid owner will risk getting eggs thrown at him.

It won't be a good thing for football in general as long as mnc are involved. Clubs are listed.

The super league will come back maybe in a more curtailed model. Whether be it uefa/fifa/or billionaire owners they will continue to milk football as a whole.

Few fans carrying placards or backlashes from social media won't make these clubs withdrawn.
