The recent ban on travellers from India, amid record infection figures surpassing 300,000 there, has further worsened the situation for the construction sector, he added.

The Government is therefore working on emergency legislation to address this severe disruption and to "share the burden more fairly between the different parties - the contractors, the developers, and the buyers", he said.

"We will introduce the legislation, I hope in the next sitting of Parliament," he added.

It's really odd why this alternative only took place after more than a year of COVID-19 :XD:

Well. The signs are there but earlier thought vaccine and india wont have such a 400k wave a day one.

Works on construction now is haiz. Sllw. Slow. High cost now from labor. Materials. Over run.

If not tackled properly, many firms will go under

A bit odd.  If they wanna increase prices, is there a need for a new law?  Maybe there is a  new tax.

I just hope it's not retroactive or something meaning that the price you have signed for has now become invalid and the price is up.

Like you buy guaranteed COE and now you need to top up as well.

The fact that the government intends to introduce legislation ASAP indicates that whatever measures they introduce will most likely be retroactive (from a certain cut off date).

Guaranteed COE is not contractually binding.

But a sales agreement for property definitely is.

Not sure how the government is going to navigate this tricky minefield.

You know why there is not enough workers?

Because they are all digging up my street.

Last week they dug a big hole for power lines and then filled it up again.

This week they dug a big hole for fibre lines and then filled it up again.

Two weeks they dug a big ho'e for gas lines and then filled it up again.

Should have done all three when they dug it up and filled it up once and for all.

The best is when I saw 6 men standing around a hole

with only one guy in the hole doing all the work.

The 6 on top all using eye power!

not only that.. 1 guy in the excavator dig. 2 guy watching. 2 guy directing traffic when they really just make it worse. (optionally 2 AETOS officer come, but they are just following the traffic light anyway)

1 guy in the lorry sleeping with air con on.

most of the time only 1 local supervisor at site maybe. and probably doesnt do much either.
