Todays news conference so funny... can u imagine NYC giving such a conference? 4 days takeover and KBW know more about Sg media than the head of SPH. Totally expose him as a fraud lol

I thought KBW said he don’t know.

He is leaving the journalist part to the respective editors

U just compare and contrast the last press conference with this one... can u tell which one has been in the job for several years and which one just took over a few days?

Rather, that’s the difference btw someone from SAF and someone from civil service.

Yep, can see quite a few ST reporters and editors spoke out only after they left.

MPs and silver servants too.

KBW is not typical civil servant. He got more out-of-box thinking together with top organisational skills.

That's why he is used as trouble-shooter of all nagging issues.

Watched finish the whole conference.

Seems like kbw had very clear objectives on what he want sph media to achieve. Now it is down to people down to line in sph media to execute it and hopefully kbw can turn things around.

To me, his line of thoughts is super clear, it is such a big contrast when compared to Ng yet Chung.

3 things stand out for me.:

1) He started with Why (popularized by Simon Sinek or better known these days as the Golden Circle in many leadership courses) and not How. That's good. The Why is his 3 big objectives.

2) He also did it with EQ, for e.g often emphasizing his "retirement" is not important, and manage to calm the anxiety of retrenchments by connecting to the journalists and asking them to look for good writers  to join SPH media. He was self aware and socially aware. Important elements of EQ.

3) He emphasized on "user journey"..to understand what readers really want and sell them a compelling product.  This is part of Design Thinking process.

Frankly, he probably knows a lot more of leadership principles and digitalisation concepts than anyone in the room. But whether he can turn it around or not, that we will have to see.
