The Ministry of Health refers to the articles published by Hindustan Times on 18 May 2021 ("Coronavirus variant found in Singapore can be India's 3rd wave, extremely dangerous for kids, warns Arvind Kejriwal") and NDTV on 18 May 2021 (“Stop Singapore Flights: Arvind Kejriwal To Centre Over New Covid Strain”).

There is no truth whatsoever in the assertions found within the reports. There is no “Singapore variant”. The strain that is prevalent in many of the COVID-19 cases in recent weeks is the B.1.617.2 variant, which originated in India. Phylogenetic testing has shown this B.1.617.2 variant to be associated with several clusters in Singapore.

Wa now even if we want to form travel bubble with them and let all of them in buffet style, they also don't want. Sian. We need to give them something irresistible - maybe betroth Ho Ching to Modi.

Irresistible?! I can think of few things easier to resist. 😁

As import cases will continue, has there been any stepping up of measures, or changes to procedures, etc, so as to protect frontline workers in contact with travelers and us the general public?

Never hear anything so far.

Can ask MOH how did B16172 came to be in Singapore?

MHA has been covided! And no more low class english like loss of smell. Now they use anosmia

Case 63379 is a 57 year-old female Singaporean who works at the Ministry of Home Affairs. She developed a cough on 13 May, and anosmia on 14 May. On 16 May, she sought medical treatment at a GP clinic, where she tested positive for her antigen rapid test (ART). She was immediately isolated and a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test was taken on the same day. Her PCR test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 17 May. Her serology test result is pending. She has tested preliminarily positive for the B.1.617 variant, and is pending further confirmatory tests. Case 63379 received her first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on 8 May.

Airborne transmission of Covid-19 'stronger possibility' in some settings; plausible factor in TTSH cases: MOH

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/moh-says-airborne-transmission-of-covid-19-stronger-possibility-in-some-settings-plausible

We should consider open-air ventilated school classrooms for better safety. Offices too. Back to good ol' days. Relied on air-conditioning for too long [laugh]

Have to re-think air-con food courts too - how safe are they given that people remove masks when dining-in?
